Free Click & Collect For Buyers Sept-Oct Promotion
Summary: 22poster22 expressed concern about a Click and Collect promotion on eBay that isn't transparently visible to buyers until after purchase, potentially diminishing the perceived value. jeffremington suggested adding a note in the listing header to highlight the free postage offer. podlingsmum and downsizingxs echoed similar frustrations, noting that the promotion seems ineffective because buyers aren't informed before checkout. *vyolla* explained that the promotion is only visible at checkout, and not clearly highlighted in listings, which can lead to buyer oversight. Further discussions pointed out inconsistencies, such as private listings not showing as free, and highlighted that the offer mainly benefits those choosing collection points over home delivery.
Although I don't usually offer click and collect I decided to list various eligible clothes under £20, as free collection definitely made them more of a bargain.
However, now they're all listed (and postage states '£0' subject to buyer's choice of P&P) they do not show the buyer anything about the promotion. They show full P&P as before. Apparently they will not discover the option of free C&C until they've actually bought the item! If they don't know beforehand then there's no benefit whatsoever to the Seller - in fact the price looks worse!
Am I missing something? I've followed eBay's instructions to the letter. FYI - the items are not on this account.

·1 month agoChecking clothing listings certain business listings show as free postage but private listing still show a postage fee. Checking private listings postage click and collect has no info not even a 'free' whereas normal postage still shows fee charges. Also assume the buyer will not get free post unless they opt to have to travel to pick up their purchase? C&C might be handy for those out all day but not for those at home who could face a round trip travel cost. Ebay have a knack of creating non/complex offers.

·1 month ago · EditedYes. the offer only applies to items sent to a collection point (Click & Collect) so the listing will still show the normal postsge for home delivery. Eligible listings do show the Click & Collect option as having zero cost (no price given) in the postage section but it would be better if it actually stated 'Free postage' for that option or at the very least showed the price as £0.00.

·1 month agoI noticed yesterday that although all clothing has to be posted SD, accessories can be sent custom postage, but the free C&C also applies to these listings but only if you change them to SD. So there is a choice to be made whether to give all buyers a free option and a more expensive option.

OP1 month agoAll my eligible listings are small parcels thankfully.
I'm still completely mystified as to why eBay is not informing their buyers of something as big as FREE P&P! It shouldn't be up to the seller to do this.

·1 month ago · EditedThe promotion is only applied to applicable items at checkout once the buyer selects C&C, else postage shows as per normal on the listing.
So yes, unless the buyer is aware of the promo and eBay add some coloured text highlighting it same as they do with available voucher offers on a listing, they'll be oblivious to it.

·1 month agoMe too! I ended up inserting eBay's own words into the listing i.e. Free Click & Collect on this item - Your buyer will get free Click & Collect on this item if you list and sell it by 31 Oct. Terms Apply

·1 month agoI haven't sold a single thing under this promotion. Buyers aren't aware of it. This is only a sweetener to a buyer that was intending to buy the item anyway.

·1 month agoWow just seen this and you are right during search the P&P shows as normal. What is the point of trying to drive sales with the method? All I can suggest is mentioning free post in listing header? We did this during the clothing and collectables free post offer.
