Evri parcels not being delivered
Summary: lesley574 raised concerns about the Evri courier service, sharing experiences where items were marked as 'despatched' but not delivered, which negatively impacted their eBay reputation. Other participants reported mixed experiences, noting that delivery reliability often depends on the local courier. Some have opted out of using Evri, choosing alternatives like Royal Mail or Yodel, despite challenges such as inconvenient parcel shop locations. It's highlighted that eBay’s protection policies may not fully compensate sellers when using Evri. Discussions also reveal frustrations with poor customer service and instances of lost or mismanaged packages.
Anyone else having problems with the Evri courier service? I don’t sell many items on eBay but recently, several have not arrived and remain showing as “despatched”. The buyers have paid the protection fee so I hope will be refunded by eBay, but that’s not the point. It reflects badly on the eBay seller and it seems Evri are getting away with this.

·2 weeks agoYes, it happens to me all the time, and then they take weeks or even months to pay out.

·2 months agoMy experience has been so bad that I now refuse to use. I used to use them for Ebay sales but my Metric were in the RED for INR (even if the items arrives eventually the INR rating doesnt remove) Also at xmas I order 5 items for Xmas - not one arrived!
So enough was enough and moved to Yodel/Inpost and my metrics now are way below average and Ive had 3 go missing since December - I can not hate Evri any more - We do have a good driver so if it reaches him then I get the item but often they just drop off the tracking in the hubs.

OP2 months agoThat's a really high failure rate by Evri, you must have been furious. I have considered moviing to Yodel, but their parcel shop is much further away than Evri's. I wish Amazon would deliver eBay parcels, I don't think they have ever let me down with my shopping deliveries.

·2 months ago · Editedim lucky my parcel shops close, have a look on their website they may have new ones opened now with inpost, but they also pick up at morrisons locals

OP2 months agoThanks simplyessential, I'll check it out.

·2 months agoSo, over the years I have sent maybe 20000 items with Royal Mail, and perhaps 5000 with EVRI. EVRI are without doubt the better of the two. Higher delivery success, in better time and in honesty I find the E-mail customer service from Packlink to be satisfactory.
lesley574
OP2 months agoThanks for your response padanparts. My experience is that Evri used to be better, but I recently sent 6 parcels and 3 of them appear to have been lost! A 50% failure rate isn't great. The parcel's tracking appears to show that often the item gets to the final Evri depot then never gets to the person who actually makes the delivery.

·2 months agoI think (from talking to drivers), that what happens is either they attempt delivery and nobody home OR they don't have time. Then the parcel stays with the driver until they redeliver and sometimes if they are stuffed, those parcel redeliveries dont go out for a few days. Ordering through E-bay means you deal with Packlink who deal with EVRI on your behalf and actually they are pretty on the ball for service and actually responding.
lesley574
OP2 months agoThat explains a lot about why parcels are delivered late, thank you padanpcparts. However, still not sure how Evri manages to completely lose some of my parcels and they remain as "depatched" and never get delivered. It's a mystery!

·1 week agoLucky you! Its a rare day that EVRI actually deliver to us (local courier picks and chooses in this area who he wants to deliver to! I have NEVER used them to sell for that reason. I have used RM for the ten years i have been selling and buying and never once have they lost or damaged a parcel. For me RM are miles better than EVRI.

·1 week agoI spoke too soon! 2 things have happened since my last post.
1 - They delivered a battery to some random car park, that was supposed to go to a shop inside a Morrisons store.
2 - They decided that 5 items I sent on 7th August weighed 4KG each (I sell nothing over 1.5K, and most items weight 500g or less). They are charging me a fiver extra for each one.
I cursed myself!

OP1 week agoHow ghastly, is it possible to complain & get your money back? I wonder if eBay would be willing to step in; was the item sold via simple delivery with buyer protection? which in theory is supposed to cover the vendor too. You must be furious, I hope you get a refund for the extra delivery fees and an apology, it’s so wrong that they can get away with this.

·1 week ago · EditedIt's £25 in charges, I am e-mailing backwards and forwards, though they are giving me the usual 'We need pictures of the item before it was posted on scales', nonsense. I told them, 'I need picture of item on their scales showing discrepancy'. I am very much a money where my mouth is person, if they (Packlink/EVRI) charge me £25 in fees, I will give all my parcel post back to Royal Mail. As you have mentioned, business customers prefer it anyway.

OP1 week agoMaybe add rubbish reviews for them in as many places as possible, let the World know how money grabbing they are and what an inadequate service they are providing. I sincerely hope you get a refund.

OP2 months agoThanks for advice, however, when I used to use Royal Mail, an item that I sold arrived broken and I had to get compensation from Royal Mail to cover the loss, BUT I received the compensation in stamps! I'm now stuck with about £60 worth of stamps that I will likely never use. This was about a year ago so may have been prior to the Buyer's Protection Fee & Simple Delivery system.
I'm not sure whether losses via Royal Mail are now fully covered by eBay (for the seller too) in the same way that Evri is? I've Googled this and have seen conflicting information. Anybody know? Thanks.

·2 months agoIf you use simple delivery and the item is lost or damaged in transit the buyer has to open the relevant case and the buyer will be refunded by eBay while the seller keeps the proceeds.
lesley574
OP2 months agoThanks Jon, I did read that with Royal Mail, the buyer gets a refund via eBay, but the seller doesn't get to keep the proceeds, I hope what I read was wrong (Googled). Have you been able to keep the proceeds of a sale after Royal Mail failed to deliver, or the item arrived damaged? Thanks.

·2 months agoIt’s never happened but it’s stated on the simple delivery pages
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sellercentre/postage/simple-delivery
Always worth checking on eBay than believing what Google returns (especially if it’s the AI response)
Note if you send custom delivery then this does not apply

·2 months agoI have had two recent experiences with EVRI taking ages to deliver one item and claiming another was damaged in transit. An update on the latter was promised in 72 hours but that has passed and still not a word. eBay say they will will resolve it but I have not yet heard from them.
simplyessential_uk
·2 months agoThis has definitely been my experience as a seller and buyer and opted out of using Evri where possible but unfortunately theres little you can do as a buyer.
kath3735_wxmjn
·1 week agoSimple answer for me is that if i really would like the item i will contact the seller and ask if they could send RM (or any other courier), if the answer is no then i just look elsewhere for what i want. NO way will i buy from anyone who only uses EVRI - I know that i would never get the item.
lesley574
OP1 week agoProblem with eBay, it seems that in order to get the packaging slip and label, the Evri postage has to be purchased? When you ask sellers to send via Royal Mail instead how do they deal with that? I don't use Royal Mail because they once compensated me for a broken item by sending me £60 worth of stamps!

·1 week ago · EditedIf the seller agrees then they can opt out of Evri and Inpost prior to the purchase being made. It will apply to all istings but they can opt back in once the purchase is complete. Not ideal though and would be better if the buyer could opt out at their end.

·2 months agoThere have certainly been many posts from peeps about Evri's bad service . I do think it depends wholly on the courier person you have in your area, and not Evri Company as a whole.
I have a great Evri person, never late, keeps me updated on exact time of delivery , but others are not so fortunate.
As a seller , many do not include Evri as an option for postage, and you can do this here if you wish:
