Evri aren't fit
Summary: A discussion took place regarding the inadequacies of a particular delivery service, with greatcentral20 and upda8077 sharing negative experiences about receiving damaged or missing parts of goods when delivered by the service. upda8077 recounts multiple complaints and instances of deceitful delivery tactics by couriers. cobwebcottage suggests that buyers also need to take responsibility by choosing safer delivery options, though upda8077 points out limitations with changing delivery methods. Meanwhile, jonatjonatjonat inquires about the CEO's involvement in addressing complaints, and gjalp mentions the difficulties private sellers face due to certain platform constraints. Despite these issues, firstgardencity shares a contrasting experience, noting minimal losses with this service and comparing reimbursement policies with another courier.
As mainly a buyer I get a lot of damaged or missing parts of goods when
delivery is by Evri. Sellers please please please don't send parcels with Evri
Search at Google for "Evri disasters" then think to yourself, should I
really use Evri with the risk of having to lose money by having to
send a replacement for damaged or missing parts.
I would pay extra postage if my parcel was sent by a much safer
courier.
It's not only me suffering the downfalls of Evri. Parcels are left on doorsteps
in full view of passers by which then could be stolen. Parcels hurled over gates
or fences most of the time even when marked fragile. Deliveries to the wrong
address sometimes with fake photos shown as goods delivered.
These episodes have been described to me by relatives and friends with some
being shown on the Google search "Evri disasters"

·1 month ago23,000 sales sent by Royal Mail and Evri.....
3 losses on Evri and 2 on Royal Mail does not convince me that I should not use Evri.
The other thing to bear in mind is that Evri will reimburse with the amount paid by the buyer but Royal Mail will only reimburse what the seller paid for the item plus postage and if you cannot find a receipt they will not entertain a claim.

·1 month agoI have the same problem with evri and yodel. I have three addresses I have items sent to, one address is in bristol, there is no front porch, no front garden, no safe place, the front door leads straight onto the pavement.
Both evri and yodel will leave the parcel on the pavement if anyone is not in, anyone walking by can see it and just pick it up, I even have on the address "no safe place outside house", in capital letters but its ignored.
I complained to evri, they apologised and said they have had a word with the courier and it will not happen any more, guess what, he still did it, I complained again, this time to Martijn de Lange (the evri boss), he got the local office involved and again they apologised and again said they have spoken to the courier and it will not happen anymore.
And it happened again, but this time the courier tried to be crafty and devious, even though the parcel was too big for the letterbox he lifted the letterbox flap, aligned the parcel up with the letterbox and took a picture, then said "Delivered through the letterbox" on the delivery page and left it on the pavement.
I complained again to Martijn de Lange and explained what the courier had done, he did not bother to reply that time or get any of his staff to reply, so I guess even he cannot control his staff.
So all I can do now is not buy anything from sellers who use evri or yodel when I want a delivery to that address (evri and yodel screw up, and the sellers loose out)
Like you I wish sellers would not use them, but they are cheap compared to the post office so I can see why they do.
The post office prices are going up and up for delivery's, almost every time they get fined for something the prices go up, when they screw up we end up paying the fines. They have been fined 21 million this year alone for not meeting delivery targets, and we end up paying that fine and the government gets it, in a way its just another tax on us plebs.
I have noticed on ebay some sellers will say they use royal mail tracked 48 for delivery on their item for sale page because they realise some buyers will rather buy from them than someone who is using evri for delivery, then when they have your order they send it out using evri. this is out of order, but what can you do.

Your buyer has to accept some responsibility if this is their situation. They can follow the tracking and see when the delivery is expected and they also have a choice to choose C&C for delivery rather than deliver to their home address. Especially if they are at work on certain days.

·1 month agoWith evri you cannot always get the parcel transferred to a drop off point, when I asked why they said it depends on the sender's chosen delivery service and specific circumstances during the delivery process. So sometimes you just cannot change the delivery.
So the person receiving the parcel cannot accept some responsibility for the delivery.
Also on the evri website it says (well it used to say, I have not checked for a while) "Evri couriers will leave a card if you're not home and will attempt to deliver your parcel up to three times" but they never do that.

·1 month agoThat's not what I meant. They should select Click and Collect at the checkout if they do not have a safe space or are at work all day.
upda8077
·1 month ago · EditedYou select normal delivery as you expect to be in, but sometimes your plans will change, sometimes their delivery times change, or the delivery day may change when they are busy , there would not be a problem if they did what they say they will do on their website "Evri couriers will leave a card if you're not home and will attempt to deliver your parcel up to three times", but as I previously said "They dont".

·1 month agodid the CEO of Evri actually personally correspond back with you?
upda8077
·1 month agoI sent him a email, it was his secretary that replied and said they have informed the local office, and then the local office sent me a message.

·1 month agoThe problem is, if you buy from a private seller, they have very little control over postage due to ebay forcing Simple Delivery on them. Unless they know how to ‘turn off’ some of the options, then once the buyer has paid, ebay issues a label as they deem fit. This could be Royal Mail, Evri and Yodel mostly. On my private seller account, I have turned off Evri and Yodel as it is inconvenient to me to use them (I use collection service) and I also know of delivery issues. Not everyone is aware of this option. Ebay tends to default to Evri much of the time.
