eBay Simple Delivery system frustration, if use own label how does eBay know delivered

Hi folks

Sold an item, eBay had set Royal Mail Medium parcel but box was outside their limits.

Arranged my own delivery using Parcel Force via Parcel2Go portal.

But eBay would not allow my own tracking to be entered.

Live Chat stated this is because thought Simple Delivery was to be used.

They suggested activating the prepaid label.

But that tracking is not active so how does eBay know item is delivered to release funds.

Can the buyer confirm this somewhere.

It was so much easier when the seller had full control of shipping.

Hi David,

I’m currently in the same situation as you. Buyer wanted the item on next day delivery, so I incorporated the cost of Royal Mail special delivery into the cost of the listing, purchased the label and have sent it.

I was unable to upload my own tracking, live chat said the same to me to get the prepaid label so it marks as dispatched, add the actual tracking number to the notes and then just fill in a refund form for the prepaid label.

However I am also concerned about how eBay knows the item is delivered and when the funds will ne released. Can you share what happened in your situation please?
