eBay leave, don't touch, I will do it
Summary: fribblecollectables shared their experience of receiving an automated email from eBay about a buyer cancellation, noting that the order was cancelled while they were asleep. eBay relisted the item for an auction at an inconvenient time without their consent. theelench and department28 humorously commented on eBay's automated processes, while *guinevere* suggested that fribblecollectables could have canceled the order manually for more control over the relisting.
11.17pm last night, I received an automated email from eBay. Found it this morning when having a look at emails etc.
'Buyer wishes to cancel'
(Some rubbish about it 'not arriving in time', but as five days have already passed and payment hasn't been received, well they're not going to get it any time yet are they?)
Anyway,
fast forwards to 5.08am this morning, when I was asleep, apparently I have cancelled the order!
OK, no massive big deal, however - ebay relisted it in auction automatically to finish at 5.08am next Monday morning.
(That's never happened before. I have NEVER had 'relist auctions if unsold' or anything similar ever switched on).
Well that's going to get the last second bids flying in at that time of day isn't it!!
Sooooooo, lets see what has changed and why this is now happening like this. . . hey ho.

·3 weeks agoNot sure why you didn't cancel it yourself after 4 days, as "Unpaid" then you could have relisted it at a time convenient to you, plus giving your "buyer" a well deserved strike.

OP3 weeks agoOh I was. Today was day five so it was going to happen.
(I try and treat myself to Sundays off) !!
I don't automate it as my regular buyers load up orders over a couple of weeks or so.

Oh if only they would! Most of the difficulties & frustrations with eBay these days tend to be caused by something they have auto-meddled with...

·3 weeks agoHow dare you be asleep at 05:08 in the morning !! Whether you are a full-time business or the most casual of occasional sellers, you should be on-call 24/7 once you list anything on ebay (ROTFWL emoji)
