Don't have a printer but got label to print!
Summary: siulca expressed frustration over the confusing process of shipping an item sold via eBay without a printer. They faced challenges with Royal Mail collection and label printing. department28 suggested that postmen should bring a label, but when the postwoman didn't, they referenced detailed booking instructions. theregoesatenner remarked on the confusing eBay user experience, noting that certain actions must be confirmed before the booking is complete. siulca commented on the decline of eBay's service and system inefficiencies, suggesting improvements are necessary.
I sold an item, a couple of days ago and I requested the item to be picked up today by Royal Mail.
I checked the status of the sold item today and it didn't say anything about being picked up today.
So I requested a label, not understanding that I would need to print it. And from there I was able to request the item to be picked up (again) but tomorrow.
Now the status shows that it will be picked up tomorrow but it expects me to print the label!
Argh, I don't have a printer! So now what?
Will the postman bring a label tomorrow just in case? Or will they turn around and refuse to pick up the package because I didn't print the label?
eBay really needs to make this posting flow more obvious for casual sellers who don't own a printer.

OP3 weeks agoAs feared the postwoman showed up without a label. She said one wasn't requested by the system.
My goodness, eBay is going downhill quick.

·3 weeks agoWhen you click 'book a collection' the bring a label is automatically applied, however you then have to click 'get label' for the booking to actually go through. Very confusing for new users.

OP3 weeks agoThe user experience is so bad that it looks like no developer actually tried to do this.
I haven't sold anything for ages but it feels much worse than it used to be!
Also it auto-selected royal mail as the courier and never gave me an option to change it! It's absurd.

·3 weeks agoI think the postie should bring a label. I print mine, but have found the postie brings one anyway.

·3 weeks agoOh no! Sorry to hear this. Have a look at this info - perhaps you missed something when booking?
'Booking a Royal Mail or DHL collection
If you have a Royal Mail or DHL label, you can book a collection on eBay. You'll need to book the collection before you create your prepaid label. Royal Mail and DHL can then collect your item and also bring the label for you if you don't have a printer. Here's how:
Go to Orders - opens in new window or tab in My eBay.
Select the order you'd like to book a collection for.
Select Get prepaid label.
Go to the Shipping Service section and select Book Now.
Choose the date for the collection. You'll need to be there in person so make sure to choose a date when you know for certain that you'll be home.
Select Book collection.
Finalise your collection by selecting Get prepaid label. You'll then see a screen confirming the details of your booked collection.'
