DELIVERY DATE CONFUSION
Summary: denedw-6733 raises a concern about eBay's automatic messages indicating long delivery times, despite dispatching items quickly via Royal Mail. The extended delivery estimates have led to confusion among buyers and occasionally lost sales. tressygirl suggests adjusting the delivery estimates on listings, while boundarycoins suspects possible issues with past performance data and suggests reducing dispatch times to see if it improves the estimates.
Hello everybody. First time I’ve posted. I sell something most days and so regularly receive messages from buyers asking why their item will not be delivered for 1 month. I send items within a couple of days mostly and use Royal Mail for all. Buyers always ask why so long. I explain it is an eBay generated message not mine and the item should arrive before a month. It is time consuming to answer all these messages and I have also lost the occasional sale due to the customer receiving this message. Thoughts fellow sellers please regards Den

·1 month agoI only checked a few of your items out of your 2000+ listed ( lovely interesting items btw!), and your estimated delivery times do show around 3 - 4 weeks estimated delivery dates!
Might be a long, time consuming job to change all those but a long delivery estimate if indeed incorrect is a major reason for a buyer being off put from buying from you.
Worth changing then, to the expectation you can fulfill.

·1 month ago · EditedEven with the 5 working day dispatch that is set, it is very unusual to see such extended EDD’s as this isn’t it.
@denedw-6733 I wonder if past performance or a lack of data available to eBay is coming into play. In the past have you had longer dispatch times set and do you upload any tracking to orders?
I would bring your dispatch times down to 2 days if that’s what you are doing and hope it makes some difference to the EDD.

OP1 month agoThanks so much for that advice. I will definitely slowly go through and edit items to reflect a shorter delivery date where applicable and see if that improves things. P.s. glad the items looked interesting. Regards Denise
