Combined order, one postage charge - not enough for the combined weight
Summary: lisa_pp8, a private seller, encountered a problem with a postage label that was insufficient for a combined order's weight. 4_bathrooms advised on Royal Mail guidelines, explaining that Simple Delivery labels should accommodate the package if it doesn't exceed the medium parcel limit. cheekychippy210 shared a similar experience, stating that eBay assured them the postage would be covered, encouraging lisa_pp8 to confirm at the post office.
A buyer has bought 4 items in one transaction, but the postage label has come through for one which is now not sufficient to post all 4 items within the allowed weight limit. Is this a setting I missed on my listing? Is there anything I can do about it? If I take the parcel and QR code to the post office, can I just pay the balance or will they have to start again with a new postage order / tracking code?
I'd be grateful of any advice / experience please.
I am a private seller.

·3 weeks agoIs it a Simple Delivery label; i.e. one that states "marketplace seller" at the bottom?
If it is the package just needs to be within the size and weight limits the carrier accepts. For example, if eBay guessed the package was going to be a Royal Mail Small Parcel but it is actually a Medium Parcel you can still take it to the Post Office counter and it will be accepted:
The maximum sizes and weights for each carrier are as follows:

OP3 weeks agoIt's Royal Mail so hopefully ok. There was a pop up on the label which said max 2kg and it's 3kg... will find out tmrw. Thank you for the info

·3 weeks ago2kg is the weight limit for a Small Parcel however to the best of my knowledge Royal Mail Simple Delivery labels do not show a weight band nor a price.
The label should show that it is either Tracked 24 or Tracked 48, have "MARKETPLACE SELLER" displayed in the bottom box and show "Paid and printed from eBay Simple Delivery" at the bottom-right. As long as this is what the label is showing it is a Simple Delivery label and it should be accepted provided it is within Royal Mail's Medium Parcel limit - i.e. Not exceeding Length 61cm, Width 46cm, Depth 46cm and is 20kg or less.
If it is a Simple Delivery label and you didn't change eBay's "recommended" selection everything should be fine.
