Collection only item- buyer wants to send an uber
A buyer wants to send an Uber to collect a collection only item. I’ve never had this before. Buyer didn’t ask if this is ok before bidding and has subsequently won and paid. Any advice please, has anybody else done this before?

·1 month agoIt's okay if your buyer gives you or the Uber driver their collection code, and you input this in the order details before handing the item over. That will confirm that the item has been collected.
I absolutely wouldn't hand it over without that code.

·1 month agoProvided you get the collection code on collection its fairly irrelevant WHO collects.
It's better for you if you get evidence that the order was collected by a third party as the ebay money back guarantee would no longer apply.

·1 month agoIt's the buyer taking the risk here (they will not be covered by eBay MBG), not you. As already stated, make sure you get the collection code before parting with the item.

Still dont reckon it, the gig economy and tech are ok but nothing is as good as human instinct which is why they are trying to erode our instincts.

OP1 month agoMoney was paid and cleared in my eBay balance. Item has now been collected and a code was provided, scanned and shows as item collected. I also have clear communication with buyer stating a third party will collect.

·1 month agoThe buyer is given a collection code as soon as they pay. @tracy2543 would just need to obtain and enter the collection code from their buyer before handing the item over to the Uber driver. If the buyer doesn't provide a valid collection code (or only provides excuses) then the OP doesn't hand the item over; no ifs or buts.
The collection code would protect the OP from an INR claim. Provided the OP obtained proof the item was collected by a third-party; i.e. by confirming via eBay messages that their buyer had arranged for an Uber driver to collect their buyer would lose their MBG protection for INAD as well:

OP1 month agoThank you all for the advice. I have requested confirmation from the buyer that a third party is collecting. Also told them I wouldn’t release the item until I receive the collection number or qr code. He did ask for my mobile number but I declined as I would prefer an electronic trail of all our conversations. Thanks again, I’ll let you know how it goes x
