Can anyone help with a postage problem?
Summary: hummingbird-curios sold an item through eBay and received a charge of £2.76 for postage, 10 days after the sale, due to the package being slightly over the size limit for small parcels. Although they accept the charge as immaterial, hummingbird-curios is frustrated because the simple delivery policy should have covered slight discrepancies. They attempted to resolve the issue with customer service but felt the representative was unhelpful. **peaseblossom** suggested issuing a refund, despite the transaction being too late to cancel.
Sold an item on 13th July for £7.35 (Simple Delivery with buyer pays postage). I only use royal mail so postage label recommended by eBay received from eBay for RM tracked 48.
All good, posted next day, received within 2 days, happy buyer.
Yesterday I got charged £2.76 postage for this transaction, 10 days later.

10 days later it has an extra line added now saying Postage label -£2.76
Order earnings £5.09.
I did a little digging and it transpires that the package was a fraction over the 16cm dimension for small parcel and it looks as though eBay have charged me the difference.
This is the first time I've come across this .
Fair enough, it's not even the price of a coffee and the money is immaterial - what gets me is that under the terms of simple delivery, if you go with the recommended postage you wouldn't be charged if there was a slight discrepancy.
I asked a CS operator for an explanation and he didn't even understand their own simple delivery policy, he's telling me to take it up with royal mail as the post office must have undercharged me.
I just couldn't make him understand!!!
Where's Marco or Kat, perhaps they could look at it CS don't know what they're talking about.
I asked to speak to a supervisor but he said he was a supervisor.
Not only are buyers scamming eBay sellers, eBay are scamming us as well.
Just as an update - taken from eBay's simple delivery policy:
If you use the recommended parcel size and your item exceeds the maximum size and weight of the label, you won’t be charged any additional costs. Just go ahead and use the Simple Delivery postage label. The courier will accept your package providing it remains within the maximum weight and dimensions for the service.
