Hi
A buyer bought an item from me. I listed it as working, but the buyer has been in touch to say that it needed new parts, has purchased them and it now works.
He has given a breakdown of the parts ordered and postage cost and wants me to pay these via a refund.
I am reluctant to do this as it is about half the price of the item, a lot less than my reserve.
Also the buyer is being forceful and threatening negative feedback if I don't comply.
I would accept a return of the item, but can't see this as they have already bought the parts.
Any suggestions on my way forward as EBay AI is useless

·1 week agoI agree with the previous comments. The buyer made the choice to make alterations to the item they have purchased. Any return requires the item in the original state. I would ask them if they want to return the item, to start the process through ebay. It may be whatever they purchased from you was indeed fine and they simply wanted to make changes and have you cover their cost. The threat of negative feedback is in writing, so ebay can deal with that if it occurs.

·1 week agoIt was their choice to decide to amend the product and fix it after receiving it - without contacting you. That choice is nothing to do with you.
All you can advise is they open a return request (which would presumably be item not a described and you'll have to provide a return label.
If they are threatening feedback extortion as well - report the messages and if feedback is left - report it with the evidence that they threatened to leave the feedback as a means to get you to refund.
Also - add them to your blocked member list!

·1 week agoFirst, block the buyer's eBay ID. That way they can only communicate by opening a return case.
Second, report the buyer for feedback extortion and demanding something not offered in the listing.

·1 week agoAsk them to open a case to return the item for a full refund. Do not refund until item received.
