I used to like it when the buyer would be able to pay straight away but now the buyer has another 3 hours before they can pay if they want to buy anything else. who else does not like it as well

·1 week agoIt's just a recommendation that you hold back from posting straight away if there's a possibility that the buyer may be bidding on more of your items.
You can safely ignore it and post the item out now if they're not.
Automatic Postage Combination: If an initial purchase is made and the buyer completes the payment, the 3-hour wait feature pauses checkout for subsequent purchases. Any additional items bought from your store within this timeframe will automatically group together in the shopping basket for combined postage.
No Waiting to Ship for Sellers: You are not required to hold off on dispatching an order while waiting for this 3-hour window to pass. If a transaction has been paid for and finalised, you can proceed to print shipping labels.

·1 week agoI’ve read this over and over again, but sorry, I'm still quite confused about it.
If the buyer has a 3-hour window in which to add to to the basket, but OTOH “you are not required to hold off on dispatching an order while waiting for this 3-hour window to pass”, how can the buyer then combine an order if the first order has been despatched?
And if the buyer cancels within the 3-hour window, but the seller has already despatched, does the seller have the hassle of refunding and getting the item back. Or does ebay let the buyer keep the item and the seller gets refunded automatically?
And what if the first order was a small parcel, but the second order makes it into a large parcel. Even if the seller hasn't despatched already, the label would be the wrong weight/size for the combined order.
All I can think is that when ebay say "dispatch", they just mean "print the label", not actually post it. But that's not what dispatch normally means.

·1 week agoIf the seller doesn't notice that the buyer may be bidding on other of their auctions finishing shortly and dispatches the first item then the order can't be combined. It would be kinda weird for them not to notice though unless they were maybe dashing out the door and wanted to get the first item out quickly.
If the buyer asks to cancel but the seller has already dispatched then the buyer shouldn't be able to send a cancellation request. If they do this via eBay messages then the seller can explain that they are unable to cancel because the item has been sent.
As regards parcel size, if there are two different size items the larger postage price and method will be selected for the combined postage if the combined weight allows.

The buyer seems to not be informed they have an open basket or have a countdown anyway.
As a seller I do not need to see this countdown ALL I need to know is after then timer ends the sale is pushed to my TASKS on the homepage like it used to be.
Why replace TASKS with READY TO RESELL? - If I ignore the time and IF the seller may be waiting to add more items to their basket in this time closing it may only annoy them and make them feel they could of saved on shipping or added more.
These changes and made sellers use more complex for no reason will delay shipping or annoy buyers.
If eBay let folks know this order has an open basket and a countdown.
If after the countdown ends the seller is informed on TASKS.
Of course excuses are being made such as well we send you an email of each sale.
Yes - you send an email of an open basket sale which I either have to pay attention to or ignore and wait another day delaying all shiping
I still have to check ongoing orders rather than simply be informed on homepage.

Oh, that applies to so many things, including eBay these days... 🤣
I think the main reason they introduced this 3 hour window thing, was to make combined shipping easier, because Simple Delivery has made it impossible to adjust postage for a buyer after they have paid for an item, if they then decide to buy something else.
Looks like it will just cause more problems, one way or another...
