Beware fraudulent buyer

Sold an item worth £300 in February but the buyer claimed it was faulty so returned it. (I can't prove it but I think he damaged a part on purpose to justify the return)
The item contained many parts so was difficult to check and I stupidly assumed it was all correct.
I issued a refund and put the item back on sale at a lower price since it had been opened.
It only resold recently and the new buyer informed me that part of the item was missing (with photo proof) so I had to offer a partial refund.

·2 weeks agoI guess it's re-assuring to know that I'm not the only one who has had experiences like this. Their returns policy is an absolute joke, as if they lodge a dispute, Ebay just automatically sides with the buyer.

·2 weeks agoever since e bay started SD and this returns policy its become a scammers paradise caused by e bay policies so e bay effectivley caused the situation
that why so many sellers have walked and e bays a graveyard

·2 weeks agoBuyers deliberately damaging something to get round a seller's no returns policy happens quite a lot. Offering change of mind returns can help with this.

·2 weeks agoI think your question is can you receive any recompense from the original buyer as they returned an incomplete item? I'm afraid not.
However, what part was this? You say the item had many parts, perhaps one inadvertently was not posted back.
All you can do is to send a polite message for that buyer to try and find it, slim chance they do, you could send it on to buyer No. 2 even though a partial refund has been offered.

·2 weeks agoYou cannot name and shame on these boards because it could be a competitor giving false, negative feedback and information, criticising a fellow member, so names are not allowed.
