·3 weeks agoThe verifymyage is a load of rubbish, i had a listing taken down because i didn't use it but i reported sellers with the same product and only a few was removed after appeals.
I looked into adding it account wide and reported all the dropshippers with my other products and none of them was removed and ebay said they was doing nothing wrong but if i signed up to verifymyage those listings would automatically be flagged and i would have to pay a fee while other sellers ebay sees no issue with.
With the uk law on age verification ebay should be doing the age checks not sellers using their platform at the end of the day this platform is 18+

·3 weeks agoThe law holds eBay liable for performing age verification during the purchase of bladed items (via the Offensive Weapons Act) and sellers responsible for pretty much all other age restricted items such as alcohol and tobacco products. This is the reason eBay insists on credit card details being provided for purchases of bladed items but sellers of other age-restricted items have to use VerifyMyAge.
It doesn't matter. The law requires the age of the purchaser to be verified during purchase to ensure a minor is not using an adults' account (for example). Also, eBay does not verify the age of any user unless they are purchasing an age restricted item.

·3 weeks agoUnlikely to happen anytime soon --- Despite much ongoing discussion, argument and appeals, the Age policy restriction still appears for any item considered to have a sharp edge. point or a cutting blade (including scissors, hedge clippers, lawnmower blades, handsaws etc.) ---
Currently only a ( monthly payment ) Credit Card entry to confirm your age is acceptable to eBay --- nothing else will do !! --- an everyday use Debit Card will not be accepted.

·3 weeks agoSomeone purchasing a bladed item only needs to upload details of a credit card that matches the name the account is registered to. The card doesn't need to have a balance nor does it need to be one that attracts a monthly fee even if it isn't used.
Credit cards can only be issued to over-18s whilst debit cards are widely available to children. This is the reason why eBay only accepts a credit card as proof of age when eBay is responsible for verifying the age of a buyer.
