12 negatives for an eBay dispute not the items.
Summary: wycombe1 warned other banknote dealers about a problematic buyer who left 12 negative feedbacks in retaliation for a dispute with another seller. They shared their efforts to get the feedback removed through eBay's system. boundarycoins and others advised contacting eBay customer service for resolution. roger_roger_over_and_nowt and eastern_standard_time mentioned using messages as proof of the buyer's intentions. Despite initial challenges, eBay removed the negative feedback after further escalation by a team member. marco@ebay confirmed the feedback was handled and explained privacy constraints regarding the buyer's account status.
A quick warning to any banknote dealers reading this forum that the person who left me 12 negatives feedbacks has threatened to do this with other sellers until eBay close his account. As we are not allowed to 'name and shame' you can see who it is in my feedback profile. This buyer has had a problem with another seller that was not resolved to his satisfaction and the time for leaving feedback for that seller has expired so he is taking revenge on others!
I have put in for feedback revision as his feedback left was nothing to do with any transaction I had with him. But what happens if eBay does nothing? Am I left with a load of red dots because someone was vengeful over another seller?

Hi @wycombe1 , thanks for your post.
I am sorry to hear about this, but I've flagged this urgently with the team, and I can confirm all the feedback from this user have been removed. If you still see them there, don't worry, they typically disappear within 2 hours. However, it can take up to 48 hours. If they're there after 48 hours, please feel free to let me know, and I will follow this up for you no problem.
Regarding the buyer, it is very unfortunate that they are doing this to people that have nothing to do with other issues they had before, but I've issued a report on that as well. What happens to that account going forward, we won't be able to confirm, as we cannot discuss account issues with 3rd parties due to privacy and security reasons, I hope you understand.
Again, sorry for this bad experience, but at least all the negative feedback will disappear shortly.
Thank you,
Marco

OP3 weeks agoThank you Marco,
That was a surprise because I had been told that the feedback would remain! I suppose this thread and the attention it was getting helped so I thank everyone again who kept it active until it was reviewed again by Marco who obviously actually read the messages I had received from that buyer. A happy bunny again!

OP3 weeks agoThanks to everyone who has commented on my thread.
The order was sent using a tracked and signed for service and the buyer confirmed receipt and stated he was please with the items on 7th September. This was through the eBay messaging system,.
On the 12th he left me negative feedback for the items he purchased. When asked he replied "I'm going to trash eBay and all the sellers" etc etc. quoting a dispute with another seller where items had not been received and had been returned to that seller but he had not received a refund. Again through eBay messaging. All the messages were in Portuguese.
Stupid me put in feedback revision requests without realising these are requested from the person leaving the negatives.
The correct removal of feedback protocol has now been followed.

OP3 weeks agoJust an update. eBay have refused to remove the negative feedback and I am not wasting any more time over this as I have better things to do. It just shows, IMHO, how ridiculous the feedback system is when someone can get away with such blatant misuse of the system. Already they have dropped off my first page of feedback but they will there for anyone to see for the following 12 months which is annoying but hey ho such is life!

This thread really isn't good PR for eBay, you have a member who has been here 25 years facing an issue with a member with 9 feedback on a rampage over something that hasn't got anything to do with the OP and your customer service isn't helping them resolve it.
I know you can't see member accounts but I think you should pass this over to someone to look into.
eBay is falling over itself chasing the competition to keep customers but this thread shows you still lack the fundamental principle of actually valuing your loyal customers.

·1 month ago · Edited1) Were your orders sent tracked and marked as delivered ? Regardless of his experience with other sellers he is referring to "if you don't receive your order, they won't refund your money" (I had to translate) and if your orders were marked as "delivered" then this FB will be removed as its about delivery. -
2) If you do not have this then do you have a message from the buyer via ebay to the effect that they are taking revenge on other sellers? If so then you can call ebay ( the online feedback revision only if work if point 1 is covered with tracking as its bot) as this is obviously not allowed but I honestly dont think you will get these removed unless points 1 & 2 are covered by tracking marked as delivered or a message from the buyer proving its revenge FB

·1 month ago · EditedInteresting that you view it that way. I think it is cut and dried according to the eBay feedback policy. I can’t see how the feedback doesn’t get removed myself as long as the OP gets someone at eBay on the phone.

·3 weeks ago · EditedIm viewing it purely on the info that Ebay will look at (not just believing the sellers side of the event) What feedback policy do you think this has gone against?
The feeback says "eBay is not trustworthy; if you don't receive your order, they won't refund your money" - The buyer is being quite generic but is referring to non-delivery but is he referring to this order? (I know OP says not, but the Ebay rep cant just take their word for it so they will look for tracking showing delivered on these orders). The tracking is the proof that the seller delivered the item and therefore the buyer has to open a case and let it take its course and Neg FB in these cases can be removed.
If OP is claiming that this was left maliciously then where is his proof of this also, Ebay rep again isnt just going to believe this to be the case without something confirming from the buyer that they had done this.
I see 3 days have passed since the post was made and Negs are still there. Ebay are quite black and white re FB and wont remove it unless you can prove your case.

·3 weeks agoI’ve taken the OP’s word on it. 12 neg feedbacks directed at eBay and another seller, proven by communications with the buyer that eBay can read where they admit that.
I think the policy would be broken on this point:
Comments intended for a different item or seller
If it was a GSP sale (I’m not convinced it is) then they would likely be covered for delivery related feedback removal under that as well.
Seller has put feedback revision requests to the buyer. That is a mistake trying to reason with a buyer like that. The course of action to take is ring eBay. It may be that the seller doesn’t want to or hasn’t got round to that yet.

·3 weeks ago- Im not calling OP a liar Im just saying that Ebay reps will want proof.
- Again no proof that it is. I had something similar last week but they specifically said in the comments "Seller sent me a different fragrance of Resin" and put an image on the FB - Ebay rep could clearly see that wasnt what she bought from me and the image didnt match - So it has to be clear for the Agent to see that it was not intended for the seller, they wont just take their word.
If it was a GSP sale then tracking will be there as proof and FB removed.
I agree, Buyer is unlikely to change their mind but there is no harm in trying ( Id always call Ebay in the first instance) but I honestly think Seller is stuck with these 12 Negs - Sending tracked is the key to protecting yourself and I know its not always cost effective, especially overseas tracked but this buyer, like many we come across, leave negs left right and centre - think it makes them feel important - Hope OP has blocked them
boundarycoins
·3 weeks agoI can see your point on the tracking. The way I’m looking at it if it’s my sales is I ring eBay and let them read the messages and then if they refer to that I would say so in that case why hasn’t the buyer opened 12 INR cases then? To me that solidifies the argument?
yorkshire*flower
·3 weeks agoI agree - but I dont think ebay see it that way - If theres no tracking on the order and item not received then Ebay let the FB stand eventhough the buyer "should" have been refunded, as the seller hasnt done whats required (use a tracked service) I know the buyer gets their money back but I suppose if I saw lots of neg FB on a seller all saying something about items not being received I would want to know and would avoid them - I dont agree that 1 buyer can leave 12 negs but the system is flawed (and often unfair)

·1 month agoJust when you think you've heard it all... 😲
I'm sure we've all experienced the frustration of fully intending to leave feedback, then inexplicably forgetting until it is too late.. but leaving revenge feedback for innocent sellers??! Unbelievable!
Hope it is quickly removed for all those affected.

·1 month ago"has threatened to do this with other sellers until eBay close his account".Do you have that "threat" in your messages ?.
If so it might be best to contact CS in some way.
Don't know what else to say right now,i am so shocked by this.

OP1 month agoYes - the last message received when I asked why he left me the negatives when he previously admitted there was no problem with the transactions he had with me.

·1 month agoeBay CS can see messages between users - I feel sure that if you contact them and ask them to read the exchange where he admits this, they will remove the feedbacks and ban this wingnut from the platform. Hope you get it sorted quickly!

·1 month agoSadly we can’t see their username, only that whoever it is has 9 feedback and I presume Portuguese.
I think you may get these removed by speaking to eBay by phone. It is rotten and I would keep contacting eBay until it gets sorted.
If not, tag an eBay community team member in here and they might be able to flag it for review.

OP1 month agoThanks - this one is from Brasil! I forgot you can no longer see user names! Old age creeping up on me!
I'll await the outcome of the feedback revision. In his messages to me his intentions were very clear!
boundarycoins
·1 month agoNightmare that. I don’t think it will do the account too much harm because you get so much positive feedback to drown it out but it sounds like you have enough in writing for eBay to do the right thing if they look at the case.
tressygirl
·1 month agoDid you translate the feedback? It reads.... eBay isn't reliable; if you don't receive your order, they don't refund your money.
Have they opened cases for item not received? Seems like they didn't follow eBay's 30 day MBG correctly, perhaps out of time, didn't escalate or tracking showed delivery, whatever the reason, for no refund for items not received, the blame isn't yours.
As others suggested, keep on at CS whilst there's still time to have those feedbacks removed.
You're a very senior member so I don't need to explain how to reach CS, but all I can say it's not easy now, and best to contact at 8 a.m. on a weekday as there's more chance of Dublin and a human answering.
Good Luck, hope you're successful!
