Sold a 50-inch TV but eBay Simple Delivery only gives me “Medium Parcel” – what should I do?
Summary: abdushha_0 sold a 50-inch TV on eBay but encountered an issue with the postage option, as the 'Medium Parcel' option given by eBay is inadequate for the TV's size. sml192 suggested canceling the sale and relisting with the correct postage option, while marco@ebay provided guidance on selecting an appropriate shipping method for larger items in future listings and mentioned the implications for eBay's seller protection.
everyone,
I’ve sold a 50-inch TV on eBay and I’ve now realised there’s a problem with the postage option eBay has provided.
The item has already been sold and paid for, and when I go to Get prepaid label, eBay has automatically selected:
Royal Mail – Medium Parcel
Maximum dimensions: 61 × 46 × 46 cm
Weight selected: 5–10 kg
Obviously, a 50-inch TV is much larger than this. The TV itself is approximately 111 cm wide and 62 cm high, even before adding protective packaging.
I tried clicking the pencil/edit button next to Package Size, but the only option eBay gives me is still Medium Parcel. There is no large/bulky/oversized parcel option and I can’t select DHL, Parcelforce or another suitable courier.
I don’t want to use the Royal Mail Medium Parcel label because the package will clearly exceed the 61 cm maximum length, and I’m worried it could be refused or cause problems in transit. I also don’t want to lose my eBay seller protection by arranging my own courier incorrectly.

·1 week agoI am having the same problem, except I am trying to sell scale models that weigh 2-3 kg max but can have large boxes. A week ago I wasn't having any trouble selecting large or oversize delivery options, now its totally mangled. I cant see any way to post a box over 61 cm in length.

Hi @abdushha_0 , thanks for your post.
I can see you cancelled the transaction, but if you decide to relist the item, or decide to list another large item in future, when the item is larger/heavier than what is allowed with Simple Delivery, you can scroll down to the shipping section and change it from small or medium size to oversized, in that way you can pick the courier and service of your preference to ship the item. (I've attached a screenshot below for better visibility)
However, please note that in that way you will not be able to use Simple Delivery, and any protection would be through the courier or packlink if the label is purchased through eBay.
Thank you,
Marco

·1 week ago · EditedI think your only option here, if you are not prepared to send it using your own postage method, is to cancel the sale, with the buyer's agreement, and relist it with the correct postage for them to buy again. If you want to send it using Simple Delivery then it will need to be DHL eCommerce (Bulky item) as it will be too big for either Royal Mail Tracked or Evri.
