Normally, I take my sold items to the post office to send them, but my car is off the road. I am trying to arrange for collection of the parcels by Royal Mail; I have a few to go out. I am confused about this. Some of the items are going using Simple Delivery, some are not. Some are going to be picked up tomorrow, but there is no charge for them; some are being picked up tomorrow, but there is a charge of 30p per item. This means the postie is going to come to the house for free to pick up the first couple of parcels, and then we will get charged for the next couple of parcels. I think it is a total of £1.20. OK, it's not a lot, but what is the logic of this? I don't understand.

·1 week agoThis gets technical, you can pay the 30p for one item to be collected and then ask the postal operative to take the other items of they have room but beware if they don’t know how to use there PDA properly they wont get scanned until they reach the sorting office, also you will not get a proof of dispatch email for extra items only the items you pay the 30p collection fee for.
Also beware, on my business ebay account I had a problem when an item was dispatched late, it was in fact dispatched 2 days early and was scanned on my door step but according to ebay policies that does NOT count as dispatched it counts as collected, the item is not considered dispatched until it gets scanned at a mail centre, even though I uploaded the tracking info in to ebay 3 minutes after the item was collected.

OP1 week agoOK, I didn't realise that it was different in that way.
Any idea why some items are coming up as custom delivery while others are coming up as simple delivery?

OP1 week agoHi, I just checked on some of the items that have charged me 30p and they are listed as Simple Delivery. Not sure what is going on with this at all.

OP1 week agoThey were booked through eBay. However, the ones that charged me started out on eBay and the link to arrange collection then sent me to Royal Mail.
