Royal Mail New 2nd Class LL and Letter Times
Summary: selections_pet_garden expressed frustration with eBay for not updating their delivery times, leading to customer complaints about delays. They argue that Royal Mail now delivers second-class letters on alternate weekdays, making eBay's 2-3 day delivery claim unrealistic. sml192 clarified that eBay's delivery aim is based on Ofcom's target, which still states 2-3 working days. camerapartsuk suggested using a "3-5 days" service to prevent losing seller status due to eBay's optimistic estimates.
Has anyone else asked Ebay why they are still saying that 2nd class LL and letter take 2-3 days when Royal Mail now delivers second-class letters and large letters on alternate weekdays (e.g., Monday, Wednesday, Friday one week, and Tuesday, Thursday the next) with no Saturday service.
Getting loads of unfair "where is my item" bcos Ebay haven't updated their website.
Chatting to a representative on Ebay chats who keeps telling me it's Royal Mails fault as 2-3 days is what RM are still telling them.
CRAZY!!!

·3 weeks agoUse the service "other 3-5 days" that should give you a bit of breathing space, that's what I do.
I had so many late reports last year due to eBay's unrealistic times that I lost my Top Seller status, but I'm fine with that as the 'punished' me by adding an extra dispatch day on to my listings, personally that works for me as it gives me even more time for my 2nd class items to arrive.

·3 weeks ago · EditedEbay are correct, the delivery aim, and target set by Ofcom, for 2nd Class Letters is still 2-3 working days (D+3). The only change in that regard is the removal of Saturday as a working day.
Ebay's estimated delivery dates are often over optimistic and unrealistic (for example, showing 2nd Class as a 2 day delivery instead of 3 day) but that is a separate issue.

OP3 weeks agoThat drives me nuts and is so unfair.
One week RM del Mon Wed and Fri and the next week Tues & Thurs.
There's NO way 2nd class post will make it to customers in 2-3 days in most instances.

·3 weeks agoWell Royal Mail has pledged in its improvement plan to meet the targets, following deployment of the changes, by April 2027 so time will tell. It is certainly achievable as the whole purpose of changing to alternate delivery days is to increase the percentage of addresses being delivered to on walking routes and thereby improve efficiency.
It would of course be helpful though if eBay was to add an extra day or so to the estimated delivery times whilst the changes are being deployed (as well as sorting out the other aforementioned inaccuracies in their delivery estimates). At the very least they need to remove Saturday as a working day (delivery day) for 2nd Class Letters.
