Royal Mail Increase
Hello Midnight Moaner here,
I along with many others I'm sure I can't believe there is yet another price increase from Royal Mail considering the service is getting worse. The consequences have a knock on effect...fees are higher may be 1 or 2 pence but each time it nibbles away at margins. It would be really nice if eBay could see their way to reducing the fees by say 0.5% to help all sellers.
Thank you.

·3 weeks ago · EditedHave you considered buying discounted stamps for your letters? The 91p 2nd class postage cost will come down significantly but it is a lot more time consuming, especially if you don’t go for the self adhesives.
There are various pros and cons with it but you will save a fair bit. I’d go that route rather than hope for an eBay fee discount to come along for us.

OP3 weeks agoI send small parcels and cards. I print on line using eBay postage which is still cheaper than the Post Office. I've seen discount stamps for sale but personally the last thing I want is a parcel being returned or the customer having to fork out because the stamps are fake. The stamps are bought in from closed businesses etc leaving the door open for non genuine stamps to enter the system.£3.65 in 1st/2nd class stamps? 2 and a bit. It's more abut the knock on effect to fees.

·3 weeks ago · EditedFair enough. I buy from reputable stamp dealers or pick them up at auction myself and go for the old ones. Here’s an example I’ve just sent. I know they are genuine, it worked out that that 91p letter cost me about 45p to send. I’ve got other stamps I got cheaper and they will work out at about 30p, if that.
There are pros and cons. Purely on savings, a no brainer.
For small parcels, I know sellers who still use discounted stamps they buy higher denominations than me and then take them to the post office and get a 2nd Class Signed For sticker put on. Personally I’d rather just use a courier like InPost or Evri and save that way on those but everyone’s different.

OP1 week agoI live in a very small town and can't be trecking around looking to save the pennies. Local PO closed so Unless I pay £2 to park to post a letter in the main PO I drive to the next village 8 mile round trip!

·1 week ago · EditedDepending on the amount you sell it might be worth looking at a Royal Mail Business Account with a collection or just book a home collection through eBay or click and drop as and when. The reason I went down the line of saving small amounts is because you mentioned a 0.5% saving in eBay fees and there are ways you can save a lot more than 0.5% by changing your process.
Leaving the postage to one side, if you went for the eBay premium service badge as a top rated seller you will save in fees that way:
As a Top Rated Seller, you get a badge on your listings when you offer delivery services that support tracking on items that cost more than £20, a free delivery option that delivers within 3 days, an express delivery option that delivers within 2 days and costs no more than £10, and a 30-day return policy.

OP1 week agoI am a top rated seller but because my items price falls under their minimum I don't qualify for anything at all not even a 'badge'. Yes I have read all of that. Believe me I have been here for 23 years. I know you are trying to help but when my stock is used I won't bother any more.

·1 week agoOk. You would qualify for the badge though. Some are close to getting the badge but just miss the express postage option, others would need additional changes such as shorter dispatch time and freepost. It doesn’t matter to me but you could save 1% on eBay fees today if you looked into it a bit deeper.
