Refund on postage fee for buyer - eBay agent advised incorrectly
Summary: shyo164 sold a chop saw on eBay and agreed for the buyer to collect it in person. They were informed by eBay that the unused postage fee would be automatically refunded after 30 days if the QR code wasn't scanned. However, the buyer has not received this refund, and shyo164 is unable to contact eBay or find an option for a refund, asking for advice on how to proceed.
I sold a chop saw on eBay around 3 months ago. The buyer lived about 20 minutes away and decided to collect it in person instead of having it posted.
At the time, I called eBay to ask what would happen to the postage fee because the order had already been set up with a drop-off postage service using a QR code (eBay Simple Delivery). I was told that as long as the QR code was not scanned or used, the buyer would be refunded the postage automatically after around 30 days.
The buyer has now contacted me saying they never received the postage refund. I have tried to contact eBay but cannot get through to an agent. I also cannot see any option to refund the postage or issue a partial refund, probably because the transaction is now around 3 months old.
Has anyone dealt with this before? Should the unused QR-code postage have been refunded automatically to the buyer, or was there something I should have done manually at the time? What is the best way to resolve this now?

·1 month agoNothing you can do as you didn’t receive any money for the actual postage. EBay did.
There are indications that only labels that don’t even get downloaded are being refunded.
The buyer will have to contact eBay directly.
