Problems with existing postage preferences and Simple Delivery/GSP
Summary: quaintlyquirky1 seeks assistance with integrating Simple Delivery (SD) and Global Shipping Program (GSP) into their existing postage system, facing issues with overriding old policies and setting up new ones without detailed postage options. sml192 suggests opting out of Postage Policies and setting up a policy with a tracked service like Royal Mail Tracked 48, which allows SD to override automatically. This advice helps quaintlyquirky1 reconsider their setup and retain certain custom policies. Another participant, cheekychippy210, asks about finding Postage Policies and their applicability to private accounts.
Not sure how to explain this so please excuse longevity! I have tried for hours to sort this but failing miserably and in desperate need of help, please!
Prior to Simple Delivery I created and used several Postage Policies for both Domestic (UK) and International Postage. I now have my account settings to say I want to use SD and GSP.
I have 3 issues I'm really struggling with:-
When I go to create a completely new listing, completely from scratch, the 'Select Delivery Options' section brings up a drop down list of my existing Postage Policies, none of which I want to use. It does say SD over-rides my policies, but there is not an actual SD option to click on so I am forced to click on one of my old existing policies, and buyers can, and do, still use my custom postage options, which I don't want.
I have tried to set up a new policy with just SD and GSP but it won't let me - I have to add (up to 3) Primary Postage services (which I've already done in my Account Settings anyway). Again SD isn't listed and I have to add my postage cost for the Postage Services I do chose, but the whole point is that I don't want to have to faff with any postage details now that I'm using SD.
I had hoped by doing step 2 above, I'd be able to bulk transfer all my old, but current, listings that were set up using my own postage policies (yes, very sad that I have so many listings unsold!) on to a new policy specifically set up to default to SD and GSP.
I'm very sorry to bore you and many thanks to anyone who has made it this far!!! I'm really hoping there's something obvious I'm missing - I thought it would be really straightforward and that at least my new listings wouldn't ask me to enter any postage info (except package size and weight) seeing as how I have specifically defaulted to SD and GSP in my Account Settings.
Thank you!!!

never heard of it, where does one find this in private account?

OP6 days agoIf you go into the desktop version you'll find them in there, under Business Policies, although looking at your account, you look like you're doing very well without them so you probably don't need to bother with them :) Particularly if you use SD and GSP.

OP6 days agoI don't know - my account is quite an old one so might have some functionality newer ones don't. Go to eBay Help when you're signed into your account and search Simple Delivery, and/or Business Policies etc. eBay Help is very useful reading when you first set up on eBay, or have any queries. I came here to ask as my query wasn't a straightforward one. Good luck!

I do have Postage Policies set up and for anything that needs to be sent Simple Delivery I have one set up for Royal Mail Tracked with just the Royal Mail Tracked 48 service specified. Provided I select that policy then, since it is a tracked service, it is always automatically overriden by Simple Delivery and buyers never get to see the price I have specified.

OP6 days agoThank you so much! That's really helped me re-think my current complex Postage Policies which were set up to cope with combinations of Royal Mail price/weight and delivery speed and Local or International. And mine are set to all RM Tracked 24 or 48 so, as you say, SD will over ride that.
It's also made me realise that I do want to retain a few custom ones (eg Collection Only).
So thank you very much for your help - it's been really useful and I really appreciate the speedy response :)
