Private seller multiple sales postage issue
Summary: 7kenny4, a private seller on eBay, shared an issue about multiple item sales that were split into two orders due to box size limitations. They followed a customer service representative's advice to ship with the same courier and seek reimbursement by uploading a receipt photo. However, eBay later denied the reimbursement, stating that a simple delivery label was not used. jonatjonatjonat and sml192 weighed in, suggesting possible misunderstandings, and sml192 recommended contacting customer service again for resolution.
Hi
For reference I am a private seller on eBay using simple delivery.
Last month a buyer purchased 16 listings all in one go, eBay then split those purchases into 2 separate orders, but the problem was I didn’t have a box big enough for one of those 2 orders. As this had never happened to me before I asked eBay customer services for advise and after a few messages one of their reps told me to send the extra box using the same carrier as the others and then take a photo of the receipt and upload it a link he put in the email for reimbursement requests.
So I did exactly that I sent the one I had to split into two orders using the same courier then uploaded the receipt photo to the link and waited for eBay to say that had reimbursed me.
Well today after me chasing them for an answer eBay customer service said I wasn’t eligible for reimbursement as I didn’t use a simple delivery label. Very frustrating.
Did the eBay rep tell me to do the right thing, as it’s not clear anywhere about what happens when you are a private seller using simple delivery when someone purchases multiple items and you don’t have any big boxes to put them in.
Thanks Jon

It’s pretty clear what he means
Seán, here from eBay Customer Service. I understand you have requested additional labels.
I advise that the best thing would be to ship this directly from the carrier, where they will measure the parcels and issue you with postage labels to ship your items.
When you post the parcels, please keep and take a photo of the receipt.
Once you have done so, please upload the photo of the shipping receipt here: https://ocsnext.ebay.co.uk/ocs/mudcwf?deptName=UKeBP
And we will make sure you get reimbursed straight away, funds will go back to your eBay account and then your bank account as normal.
I was happy to help resolve this matter for you today. I wish you all the best on eBay going forward and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

·2 weeks agoOkay fair enough, it does appear that you were promised reimbursement for the extra label. This isn't standard procedure though so all you can do is try contacting Customer Services again.

OP2 weeks agothanks that’s what I trying to do.
The other question is what is standard procedure, if you don’t have a big enough box do you just cancel the order and ask the buyer to purchase items individually?

·2 weeks agoI think by 'reimbursement requests' they were referring to any 'Item not received' request from the Buyer rather than you being reimbursed for the cost of the extra label.

·2 weeks ago · EditedYou were spun an absolute yarn there. No reimbursement process exists in that scenario (where you used a simple delivery label AND your own)
Honest answer is you should have either a) found a box big enough or b) cancel the order.
