One of the biggest issues i have is sending items to the EU and the customer not knowing or understanding that VAT is not included in the price of the purchase. Not all buyers look at the fine print, then when the item gets delivered they are confronted with a cost they were not aware of, Customs Duties. The item then gets refused and then the issues start, courier returns, if done properly the item without costs to me, if not done properly (most of the time) i get lumbered with the costs the customer refused. Yes paying VAT for an item i own to be returned to me. Now this is a separate issue i have taken up with my local MP and the HMRC, but the problem is the lack of any advance information or help from ebay to buyers with regards to EU sales and the complicated processes of sending parcels to European countries.
One thing that could help tremendously is eBay offering DDP services, Deliver Duties Paid. Where the customer will see all costs upfront as appose to the DDU process currently in place for Delivery Duties Unpaid. This would near enough wipe out and returns / fees being returned from ebay. ITs a win win for seller and ebay?

But yes I understand buyers dont read the small print and yes if the return isnt sorted out correctly we get nailed for import duty and vat.
