Postage Options Disappeared

I use custom postage as items are small and weight less than 250g so Simple Delivery is too expensive for buyers. Yesterday and its still the same today the custom postage will take you to your options on courier/postage service but now says " There aren't any options available. Update your package details or switch to flat postage" ! Is this a bug or Ebay trying to force you to use "simple delivery"?

·2 weeks agoBecause buyers have redress whether or not sellers use tracked postage of not, sellers must build the risks into their pricing. With low value items it can push sellers over the edge of it not being worth dealing in the commodity on eBay. One solution for CDs, which High Street traders like CEX will not offer ANY money for but which charity shops seem to get prices for, a higher price including Free Postage might be a solution. After all, if anyone does want a CD, is £7/£8/£9/£10 including Free Delivery too much to pay in total?
On eBay, someone sees your CD of, say, Moira Anderson because they have searched for that artist and if they are too mean to pay £7 for it, hell mend them and let them drag their sad bodies around the thrifts looking for it for less.

·2 weeks agoI can assure you that the majority of CDs selling on ebay go for considerably less than £6 and yes, some buyers haggle at prices well below that - which is their prerogative I suppose.
The main reason for this now is the 3 or 4 big players who offer CDs at knock down prices and then often deliver extremely subpar products - and often fully refund without really caring much about how it impacts them, or not.
They've pretty much killed the market for poor Moira Anderson and many others! lol!

·2 weeks agoChatGPTAI advised me that if you price very low on eBay a bargain hunter snaps an item up so that it is not there when someone who would pay more comes along. So the thing is your slightly more expensive one will be seen in time by the classier buyer. Of course some CDs are both very common and not searched for but there must be some very niche items. Although you could describe Moira Anderson as the Queen of Uncool, she was so not Dusty Springfield when I was ten years old, there might still be fans of that fine singer. Perhaps some Item Specifics could elicit them. I try to create my own Item Specifics outwith the standard ones for any item I am selling. Not sure if it works.

·1 week agoChatwhateverthelettersareafterthename can tell you whatever it wants. If you don't price CDs very competitively, they don't sell. I do also have niche items for sale (not niche in the way good old Moira is...) and buyers will pay the correct value for those over time and often with much haggling. It's very much a case of supply and demand - and patience in a variety of ways.

·3 weeks agoIt is now 11am on Tuesday, August 18th, and I STILL have no international postage. Does anyone have any news or updates regarding this latest debacle from ebay? I have cleared cache and cookies and restarted...nothing.

·3 weeks agoNot sure if this is any help but I had (and probably still have) this issue over the weekend (15th/16th Aug). I made up some drafts through a browser (Safari) and kept checking back with no luck as I couldn't set the postage.
However I then checked my drafts on the mobile app (which I've never used to list items before) and going into the items I'd set up as drafts there I was able to choose 'custom postage', then my postage type (large letter etc.) and then whether Buyer of Seller pays and list the items.
When I selected the package size, it did default to the smallest Large Letter size (£1.55 for under 100g), which wasn't accurate and I feared would be locked in, but it wasn't. I've sold 2 of those items today and can amend weight and therefore postage cost as I make labels.
Hopefully that helps some folks get their items listed.

There aren't any options available. Update your package details or switch to flat postage. Whatever eBay have done here it's broken UK postage options.

·3 weeks agoThey have now changed to postage to a postage policy ? so misinformation from ebay again ,so no glitch ,just ebay changing things just as they did with simple delivery. How simple it is to see your postage options when doing a listing UK and overseas rates but no its now somewhere else (what a fix this is)

The current glitch is nothing to do with them.

·3 weeks agoits never been on the listing page its just now come up instead of postage option, looked on one listing and under Payment policies if says eBay Managed Payments (420475198022) [6 listings] ,i have not set any and why 6 listings? and under Delivery details its Postage policy (Flat: UK_RoyalMailSecondClassStandard £1.00, 5 (420480550022) (1 listing) ) this is all new, and under Domestic postage , SD or custom post its Display your listing on eBay US and Canada site — fees apply,

·3 weeks agoI have taken the advice of setting up the Ebay 'Flat postage' option to get around this ridiculous situation, I set the UK postage at £1.55 for large letter but some of my listings are showing £1.87 (All on the same flat postage policy) also International has some higher prices applied but not all!
Ebay have shown by no information & their lack of action over this problem that they don't give a toss.

·3 weeks agoIt kind of works, but I have different size and weight items, and you can't use it individually, only globally, AND ebay has changed postage costs ina couple of them. It works if you have a few uniform-sized/weight items, but I would rather have the old way where I can enter individual prices for different regions, especially with these damned tariffs.

Just this evening I tried to list an item for sale, and going by eBay's own pricing it's worth no more than £7.99. The result? They basically force you into the "Simple delivery" option, which costs £2.99, and when you try to select "International Economy Shipping", you get the exact same message everyone else here has been getting.
Let's hope a new strong player shows up on the market that pulls all the private sellers over to itself, because this half-baked corporation has completely lost the plot.
To eBay's top management — remember this: greed has ruined smarter men than you. You can't keep squeezing private sellers forever. One day it'll come back to bite you — the only shame is that you'll realize it far too late.

·3 weeks agoI have found a workaround that has worked successfully on my private seller account.
You do not need to change your account to a business seller account. “Business Policies” is simply eBay’s name for reusable postage, payment and return settings, and private sellers can use them.
Go to:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/bp/manage
Opt in to Business Policies, select “Create policy”, then create a Postage policy containing your required Royal Mail service, postage charge and dispatch time.
When creating your listing, select the saved postage policy instead of trying to add the service through the broken Custom Postage menu.
I have tested this and it allowed me to list successfully despite receiving the “There aren’t any options available” error through the normal postage section.
This is a workaround for listings where Custom Postage should normally be available. It will not override Simple Delivery on items where eBay genuinely makes Simple Delivery compulsory.

Contacted eBay Friday morning via the chat and eventually got through to an actual person and they confirmed it was a problem there end and should be fixed in the coming hours/days. Only postage option available is simple same as below, trying to charge £2.72 on a £4 listing. Still the same now, was hoping would be fixed by now, but no...

·3 weeks agoSame issue for me today.
eBay just don't get that they are in terminal decline - its constant soft wear issues on a poor and inefficient program with one frustration after another and all backed up by a useless AI bot and forget speaking to anyone that's got a clue what they're doing.
Simple postage et al is anything but with all the problems with combining postage and now we've got changes to Global Shipping which will be another ill thought through and implemented disaster. And try dealing with offers if you're on 30 day time away - you accept on offer made but the buyer can't pay with messages that the item is no longer available and another lost sale. 100% they don't think anything through A - Z before its implemented and do they ever carefully test anything, first, of course not.
Ok Vinted is a lot smaller but I see my wife grinning as I have another rant at the laptop given that she never has an issue on their website.

·3 weeks agoI spoke to eBay about this issue yesterday as on business accounts it's no problem but private accounts no longer have the postage options for International. As ever, they had no clue. A waste of time. My guess is that following the introduction of the new Ebay International Shipping system, it's messed everything up. The same thing happened when Simple Delivery was introduced. I have never known any platform so incapable of pre launch testing. It's embarrassing.

·3 weeks agoAs a longstanding Buyer the 'Simple Delivery' on small items - like a folded A3 folded plan in a standard letter envelope is a total & utter rip off as well as a disportionate VAT charge.

My app also no longer allows me to send out offers - instead it offers me the option to promote listings instead. Nor am I receiving notifications if I sell an item.
Is anything working correctly?

·3 weeks agoI have not been able to choose postage options since Thursday and still the same today, so have not been able to list items.
Contacted eBay and they confirmed a technical problem at their end that is affecting "some accounts".
Also, check your message inbox as there appears at times to be a significant delay in some messages showing on the Overview Seller page in the message count and on the Notifications Bell even when they are sat in your Inbox.

OP3 weeks agoI have tried Firefox, Chrome & Safari - all have the same issue - looks like a change at Ebay end has caused this! I am now saving listings as draft in the hope that they revert to a previous release of their application to clear!

It's across different browsers and eBay accounts.
It's impossible to set up International Shipping other than using Global Shipping which they are supposed to be phasing out.
I wonder if they are fiddling with the system whilst setting up the new eIS behind the scenes.

·3 weeks agoReddit says this, "ebay has made it mandatory for private sellers in the UK to use Simple Delivery" I If this is true then 98% of my listings will have to go.
Simple Delivery just does not work for listings where the selling price is below £5. Maybe ebay doesn't want us low price item sellers!
Looking for another platform? Anyone got any experience with Shopify?

HOWEVER - you clearly should be a business seller. Sympathy will be in short supply given you have nearly 3000 listings selling multiples of new items on a private account.
I'm sure reddit might tell you other things about business seller requirements.
