Postage label
Summary: surfmonkeyuk shared a frustrating experience with using eBay's postage service for a listing. They printed a label with an unfamiliar carrier which led to issues at a drop-off point, where the shop assistant rudely refused the parcel for being oversized. surfmonkeyuk was forced to use Royal Mail instead at a higher cost, despite the original label fitting within specifications. They also struggled to get support from eBay's customer service, which only provided automated responses. sml192 suggested voiding the unused label to get a refund, but surfmonkeyuk expressed dissatisfaction with the process and the lack of support from eBay.
I ued ebay to add postage to a listing. The measurements and weight were correct. When i printed out label, it was with a carrier i haven't heard of. First option use a locker for this carrier. Barcode was not accepted. 2nd option drop off in a shop in town. The shop assistant refused parcel saying it was over sized, had no equipment on premises to back this up and was told if the courier wouldn't take it he'd throw it in the bin. Extremely rude whilst trying to work it out. Took it to past office, weighed it was under the 10kg as stated when buying the postage label.Royal mail wanted to charge £18, i paid for it through ebay for royal mail for £13. The original label, which did come within specifications would have been paid for by buyer was £5.88. can i recoup any over the postage costs through ebay, due to the barcode not working on looker and drop off shop refusing parcel through site not actual evidence. As the postage cost me almost as much as the item sold for. Tried numerous times to reach a human customer service rep, but it just kept sending me in AI circles.

·1 week ago · EditedPresumably it was the saddle which was listed with 'Inpost Store to Door' (formerly Yodel). As the name suggests it has to be dropped off at a store not locker. The maximum size for items sent with Inpost is 41×38×64cm which probably explains why it couldn't be accepted. You can cancel the unused Inpost label and receive a refund for that as follows:
'Here's how to void a postage label in My eBay or Seller Hub:
Select Selling in My eBay, or select Orders on the Seller Hub Overview page.
Select Postage Labels on the left-hand side.
Select Actions next to the label you'd like to void, and select Void Label.'

OP1 week ago · EditedI've done that already, in the original email it says the 1stvoption was a locker, the second was a shop in town. He disputed the values on it. It was wrapped in three postage bags and tape. It was measured came under one of the parameters and weight just under 20kg, as verified by the post office. Whats annoyed me is why state that's the price for the size and weight of the parcel, then it's not accepted. So I lost out on having to purchase another label for royal mail. Which I had to pay for myself. I spent an hour going round in circles trying to speak to a human in customer service and ended back with thr AI bot. But thank you for your reply, I wish they only use reputable couriers Evri or Royal Mail/Parcel Foorce, than someone in a shop saying, if the courier doesn't accept it, he'll throw it in the bin. 😳 Wtf?
