Poor courier performance using Ebay easy shipping
Summary: idunno2000 shared concerns about the unreliable performance of courier services used through eBay's Easy Shipping method, suggesting they might be treated as low priority. They noted delays in shipping times, affecting both sellers and buyers, and criticized eBay for not taking responsibility. sml192 responded, expressing skepticism that carriers would lower their priority, as this could jeopardize their contracts with eBay. They also highlighted that some delivery services only aim for but don't guarantee next day delivery, unlike other guaranteed services.
Is it just me, or does the performance of the courier services used through the ebay easy shipping method appear to be as their is an agreement to treat them as low priority services if order through ebay
Case in point if I sell and ship i used the parcel force route and mostly ship same day and its their the next because i offer the 24 tracked or special delivery. I pay directly as its the same cost 90% of the time and it gets their on time everytime.
However I have used easy ship method and shipped in the same way as I would normally same day long before the post office shuts and the items see to stall and take an extra day or 2 to arrive.
Same happens when buying, of late ive had quite a few items arrive well outside the 48hrs tracked service and even worse when Evri get involved, my local Evri courier is brilliant but is let down by the rest of the network.
Considering these services are paid for by the buyer it is not acceptable for them to arrive late. As Ebay is the one reselling the service it should be up to them to refund and reclaim the money for not performance. I would not be at all surprised if there had not been an agreement where Ebay negotiated a margin on pushing sales of the options they offer and in return the couriers generated a specific tracking code to indicate its from the easy ship options and therefore can take a back seat in terms of performance, when the network is already busy leading to slower performance, where customers just have to "put up with it" as it's just a courier issue yet have still paid for a service they have not received.
Sure Ebay will argue that its not their problems but seeing as they are the intermediary offers the option to easy ship using their own system and not directly with the couriers then they should be held accountable for the performance seeing as they are the ones taking the money during the transaction and therefore taking the payment and passing it on, there is not direct contract of purchase with the courier itself and no direct receipt!
This is not just a one off either this seems a pretty general thing and can effect the perceived performance of a seller, as slow shipping in a world of next day deliveries seems like its by design, and its unfair to the seller and the buyer when some of the ebay feedback relates to shipping and its speed! It seems very off when the seller get the item shipped out same day or next day and then the shipping take forever often outside the agreed time frames with no compensation.
Also when using the offer system there seem little option to change the shipping methods so you are kinda stuck with the perceived cheaper price that may take longer to ship also.
It just seems another part of ebay use where the end users are getting poor customer service even if through a 3rd party, it after all ebay who introduced the easy shipping not as a good will gesture but as an additional income stream.

·1 month agoI doubt very much that the carriers would treat Simple Delivery items as low priority since they would be risking the entire contract between themselves and eBay by doing so and eBay won't have agreed to a slower delivery time as they have a duty to refund buyers if the item doesn't arrive by the estimated delivery date (which hasn't been altered) plus also protect sellers where Simple Delivery is concerned.
Parcelforce 24 and Royal Mail Special Delivery are both guaranteed next day delivery services whereas the Royal Mail Tracked 24 service used by Simple Delivery only has a next day delivery aim (not guaranteed). Similarly Royal Mail Tracked 48 has a delivery aim of 2 days but isn't guaranteed.
