New exclusion of Royal Mail tracked postage on ebay when selling items

Ebay in their wisdom have changed - removed Royal Mail options for tracked postage as part of their automatic options for postage - tracked postage no longer an option.. I did use RM 48 tracked as security and proof of delivery/ Proof needed by ebay to release funds - why, oh why take this option away? The current service now means I must trust the buyer to acknowledge receipt rather that the Post Office providing proof - totally leaving the seller open to abuse with expensive items. Rubbish change with thought to consiquences. I now stipulate in the description I will be using Royal Mail 48hr tracked and will add the tracking number manually.

·2 weeks agoMy simple delivery parcels, labels provided by Ebay are RM tracked 48. You can opt out of Evri. As the contract is between Ebay and royal mail ebay take responsibility for lost or damaged parcels. I didn't fancy SD when it was announced but it has worked out ok.

OP2 weeks agoTell me how I opt out and revert back to showing Royal Mail options - simple delivery does not allow me to revert back to my tried and tested reliable postal method of Royal Mail???? Thanks!

·2 weeks agosimple delivery incorporates royal mail provided selected at listing. what do you get at package size on listing page? I get large letter, small and medium parcels. simple delivery the item is tracked, protected and confirmation of delivery. If you want the options you crave then i guess a business account is the way.

OP2 weeks agoHi Cheeky - eBay insists on recipient acknowledgment - acceptance of goods before they release funds. I get around this by using Royal Mail Tracked - mr postman doesn’t need a signature - plus I don’t need the buyers acceptance the goods have been delivered to get paid. EBay’s new system does not give me the option of tracked post - just first or second class - price dependant on envelope size - simply no use when trying to abide by eBay rules and get paid for items sold…

result = eBay releases private seller funds based on automated delivery confirmation from tracking or a maximum fallback window rather than requiring the buyer's manual acknowledgment.
this is the whole point of simple delivery, its all automated.
have you tried other platforms to sell on.

OP2 weeks agoYes to all your points - the buyer has to acknowledge receipt of goods OR the tracked service is proof of delivery. I’ve had a few cases in the past of the buyer stating the item has not arrived, leaving me out of pocket - and is the reason I insist on tracked mail - and why I’m upset eBay no longer offer tracked automatically :-)

if you are out of pocket perhaps it was because you used custom postage - google "Goods sent via custom postage are not automatically covered or insured by eBay’s integrated shipping protections"

·2 weeks agoLooking at the items that you have sold you should be eligible for faster payments (usually within 24 hours of the buyer's payment) by now. You need to have at least 10 completed sales with a total sales value of £150 or more within the last 5 years, no more than 2 currently open requests/cases, and no more than 2 transaction defects within the last 12 months.

·2 weeks agoAs a Private Seller they expect you to use their Simple Delivery for the tracked services rather than Custom Postage. Royal Mail Tracked is used for Simple Delivery (along with Evri and InPost but you can oan opt out of those if you wish) and is cheaper than purchasing direct from Royal Mail.

"they expect"! For me sd is madatory on every one of my listings, that means no means of altering posting. I dare say this applies to many on here. Every item i sell is fully tracked.

·2 weeks agoNo, there isn't a general opt out for Simple Delivery but somehow the OP has managed to list all their items with Custom Postage despite many being over £20.

simple delivery, large letter, 1kg, 2.5cm deep is £2.94. Fully tracked, fully protected and delivery confirmation by courier not buyer. If a box is used, i find delivery far quicker than and envelope! I seldom use rm, compo was a book of stamps when they lost my sold item, i was asked for original receipt which i could not provide. "Evidence needed: You must provide proof of posting and proof of the item's value (such as a receipt or invoice)"
