Need help as a seller
Hi everyone,
Thanks for taking your time out and helping.
I sent a parcel through Tracked 48 Royal Mail (i know it was stupid as it had contents worth £170)
The parcel was last scanned at preston mail centre On the 1st September 2026 and hasn’t updated since then.
The buyers opened up an item not received claim and i don’t want to lose all that money. Royal Mail have been useless. I’ve put a lost parcel claim and haven’t heard back from them. What should i do?

·3 weeks agoCheck the case and make a note of the date you need to respond by. Leave it as long as you can in case it turns up but if no delivery by then, refund the buyer. If you don’t eBay will force a refund anyway and you will get a defect on your account.
Is it bullion? I don’t think Royal Mail will payout on your claim under Tracked 48 as you needed to use Special Delivery to get the cover on it.

·3 weeks ago · EditedI have taken the same risk on a 1oz silver round before. The main concern I have and why I wouldn’t do it again is postable sized ones can get put through the letterbox and not get scanned, especially if the RM depot groups them with a rubber band to other letters.
Not saying the buyer has done this but if it got to their local sorting office I’d be suspicious but it would be academic to the outcome anyway. I had a bloke buy a coin for £50, claim INR as it got no scan, re-list it for sale and then ghosted me about it lol. Nothing I could do.

OP3 weeks agoIf it was Preston it would have been a lot easier.
However, the customer lives in London.
Also, tracked 48 Parcels have always been scanned at-least twice at different depots so its just a ball ache now.

·3 weeks agoFingers crossed it arrives before you need to refund. Stranger things have happened.
The only other suggestion I’d have with items like this is to use postable boxes that are harder to get into and shouldn’t burst open on the RM machines which can happen with bubble mailers.
