For Private Sellers, Simple Delivery or Buying postage from ebay is another way for them to skim your profits so be careful
Summary: bi11ymorpho shared their experience with shipping costs, noting that sending a parcel to New Zealand via Royal Mail cost significantly less than the option offered by eBay. They also highlighted how eBay's postage prices can be higher than actual rates and advised charging postage separately to avoid unnecessary VAT and fees. Additionally, they expressed concerns about new delivery regulations that may impact their ability to sell due to their work schedule.
I just sent a small parcel under 1kg to New Zealand with Royal Mail for £20, the cheapest offering from ebay was £40 with ups
Another item i sell can be sent as a large letter for £1:90 in the uk, if you accept the postage offered by ebay it costs £2:85, the real price is hidden in another menu
and always charge for postage as vat and fees don't apply to postage charges, offering free post means you end up paying vat and fees on the cost of posting cos everybody knows postage isn't free
Simple delivery and its prices will soon be mandatory and maximum postage time will be two days making it impossible for me to continue as i work away 5 days a week
