EBay postage and more eBay gloom
Summary: shaunsells4tune expresses frustration with eBay's postage system, specifically the inability to select letter options and unclear indications of weight, size, or cost. sml192 suggests using a Business Seller account, while other participants clarify that shaunsells4tune is on a Private Seller account, not a business account. shaunsells4tune realizes the difference and considers switching accounts. podlingsmum recommends creating postage policies, which shaunsells4tune finds potentially helpful.
I can no longer select the letter options in simple postage for 100g or less and on the custom page it does not indicate what postage I am buying! There is no weight, size or cost indicated!
As it stands I will not use it as I cannot trust it. I heard of a work around but have had enough of constant changes with eBay and will just joblot my small stuff and stop selling it entirely.
It is the same with wood working tools for me and I have found myself paying out of my pocket for postage age restrictions that legally do not necessarily even require it and the postage cost and type is also not clear. Once I run out of stock that is it. I will not start again even if they change it back again or fix the problems.
I had hoped that eBay would be something I would use in retirement in the future as a little income. I will carry on trading other things for now but have serious doubts about its future, especially for me anyway. They lose me and they also lose my custom as a buyer.

·1 week agoMy suggestion to you is to create some postage policies. This is under the business policies tab. Anyone can use this option. Then when creating your listings select your postage policy from those you made.

OP1 week agoHmmm ok that sounds useful, I will take a look at it. Thank you ☺️

·1 week ago · EditedIf you are buying/making items to sell then you should be using a Business Seller account. Ypu would then be able to use whatever postage method you want and not have to worry about Simple Delivery.
A Private Seller account is only for selling unwanted personal possessions. By trading on a Private account you are effectively misrepresenting yourself which is against Consumer laws.

OP1 week agoI am not miss representing anything. I am on a business account. Maybe I am doing something wrong but the custom postage offered via a business account does not show me the weight, size or cost of the postage I have selected like I said. I cannot tell the difference on custom setting between a letters and size and hence the cost.

·1 week ago · EditedIf it's THIS account (shaunsells4tune or Shauns Vintage Vault) then it's not a Business Account.

·1 week agoIf you mean this account then this is a private account not a business account.
There is no simple delivery on a business account.
shaunsells4tune
OP1 week agoI pay for it as far as i am aware! I will check but this was set up some time ago.

OP1 week agoYou no longer get custom postage as a private seller I believe anyway.

·1 week agoRight. So you have a shop subscription.
This ISNT the same as a business account.

OP1 week agoAh! Ok and that makes the difference. 👍

·1 week agoIf you are actually trading though, you would need to change to a business account. If you google eBay business seller it’ll explain how to do so.
