Complaints about Evri, please stop using them, they may be cheap but they don't deliver
Summary: The discussion revolves around numerous complaints about the delivery company Evri, highlighting issues such as delayed, lost, or damaged shipments. Participants express frustration over the lack of human customer support, inadequate communication, and poor delivery practices, such as parcels left at random locations. Many participants report difficulties with eBay's association with Evri, noting that it affects buyer experiences and can result in negative feedback for sellers. There are calls for eBay to reconsider their partnership with Evri and for alternative delivery options to be offered.
There are highs and lows for many delivery companies. Sometimes, we, as a business find one is ok for a period and then we have to move to another. Staff seems to be the key, rather unsurprisingly but we keep our options open and on many days use multiple companies. I have seen complaints about royal mail, Yodel and Evri (Hermes) most recently but to date I have to say that being a small seller and sending up to 11 or 12 packages a day Royal Mail works for us. But buying is a different matter and this is where I join in others by asking why does eBay continue to support a company like Evri, who to us, has failed consistantly to deliver or even when it has finally got to us the delivery is substandard, smashed, broken. I am yet again awaiting a package costing over a 100.00 and being resold as part of another set of items. three days after its last due date its not here and tracking has stopped, you dont know where it is, just the intended date and delivery but marked as delayed. This has happened so many times that now I pre empt and ask sellers not to send via Evri and if they have, as soon as it is delayed I start asking, using all the email address I have for Evri and eBay providing the tracking numbers. It costs me time that I could use elsehwre but this is because out of each three items lost I may actually get one by being quick. Seriously this is how many iotems go missing, get lost, are broken or the lates one is "destroyed" Sellers please understand, using Evri will end up taking a lot more time, cost you more money and probably losing the sale. By the same implication this must be costing eBay, who we know is all about the money, one hell of a lot of money. Evri may be cheap but they dont do the job. The mistake by many sellers is they dont understand that they have a reposnability to ensure the item gets to the buyer and not that it ends when they hand it over to the courier who is only contracted by them to deliver. In our case that contract has been broken many times and has cost sellers time and lost sales while eBay has had to fork out a lot of money in compensation. For us its loss of business, lost sales, while we will never use Evri to send we still have sellers we buy from keen on the "cheap" price and dont realise its false economy.
If you have bad service from Evri please complain, lets raise this profile and either get them to understand that its not about chat bots and automation, its the people they use to deliver, to handle and its obvious they are not motivated. Whats the use in having such a basic tracking and AI when the system just does not know where your package is or where it has been delivered or what to do about it when it is gone...... Somewhere in the ether of Evri.

·6 days agoI'm a buyer. I have complained about Evri for a very long time. Ebay is insistent on pushing Evri on to customers through their wonderful Simple Delivery App. There is little you can do about it. I protest through +feedback,.. by thanking the seller for not using Evri. And for those stick me with Evri, I leave a neutral , with the length of time the delivery took. (Evri is notoriously late, etc., and i document the facts for those to see in the feedback.) Unfortunately, you can not give (-)feedback about delivery. It will be deleted by Ebay.
My last delivery from Evri took 18 days. Ebay was of no help, Instead, they gave Evri 5 extra days , on 2 consecutive occasions, (10 days extra) for Evri to complete.

·6 days agoThree deliveries running the same courier failed to follow repeated instructions to access the flats via the front door rather than the inaccessible to non residents rear door resulting in frustration and unnecessary delays. The next one just dumped my cd in the rear communal car park. I found the empty envelope by the bins - cd filched. Had next delivery sent to Eviri locker. Instead it was left at the nearby Co Op without a code, causing more problems. Now they have damaged my Music Magpie parcel and after holding it for several days are returning it to sender. Still waiting for ebay money back guarantee. Six deliveries this year and problems with every one. Must be some sort of record. On top of this the customer support is absolutely non existent with promises to call back that are never ever honoured. No humans appear to be employed, only bloody 'Ezra.' The worst company to ever do business. I shall never again purchase from an ebay seller who uses this appalling company. I have urged the normally excellent Music Magpie to stop using them. Eviri need to be driven out of business. If in doubt I ask the seller first and if they confirm they use Eviri it's a no sale for me.

·3 weeks agoThis lot are not worth one star, I only wish I could give them zero. There drivers are too stupid to follow simple & very clear instructions. There is no excuse not to follow instructions. Outside my house there is a pull off which is used by some delivery drivers. It also has a garden gate into the garden. On the gate is this notice '' All Delivery Drivers Including EVRI, YODEL/IN POST etc Please Follow Instructions on The Front Door Exactly.'' Then on my front door is this notice ''DELIVERY DRIVERS. PLEASE RING THE DOOR BELL FOR SEVERAL SECONDS & KNOCK LOUDLY, USING THE DOOR KNOCKER, TO MAKE SURE WE HEAR YOU AND PLEASE GIVE US TIME TO ANSWER. ONLY IF THERE IS NO ANSWER THEN PLEASE LEAVE THE ITEMS IN THE BLACK BOX BEHIND THE YELLOW GARDEN GATE AT THE END OF THIS HOUSE TO YOUR RIGHT. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.'' Then on a side door in the garden is this notice ''Please Do Not Leave Parcels or Packages Outside This Door. Leave Them, As Instructed, in The Black Box by The Garden Gate'' Where did the driver leave the package? In the black box. We were in but did not hear the door bell or knocker, so he did not follow instructions, too lazy. He also left a package for my neighbour as he is too lazy and can't be bothered to deliver to both addresses, expecting me to do his work for him. Why the hell should I? He is being paid to deliver these packages, I am not. But as they say, if you pay peanuts you get monkeys.

If so. You can opt out of simple delivery couriers in your settings. It explains how to do so on the simple delivery seller guidance page.
Note however that if for whatever reason your remaining couriers cannot take an order, then they may still supply the label of a courier you have removed.

·Sep 15, 2026 at 10:44 AM · EditedI recently had a parcel delivered by evri. I got a text come through at 10.00pm on sunday saying my parcel had been delivered at 6.20.
No knock on door, no doorbell ringing. I live in the upstairs flat. My downstairs neighbour just returned from a long weekend. She had my parcel. The evri driver had seen her bathroom window open and rsther than checking just pulled the window open and posted it into her bathroom.
If she had been away longer, the seller would have been out of povket.
Do evri applicants tick a box that says they are idiots. I have literally cancekled orders from sellers on ebay because they use evri as courier. I woukd rather pay extrs than give business to courier service who dont give a damm, hooefully ebay sellers will finally realise that using this third rate company will actually hurt their business

·1 month ago · EditedTHIS SHOULD BE A PETITION TO EBAY TO ASK THEM TO STOP USING EVRI ON THIER PLATFORM! THEY ARE THE SINGLE WORST DELIVERY SERVICE IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD. I HAVE WITNESSED THESE DRIVERS JUST THROWING PARCELS IN BINS AND BUSHES. WE ALL KNOW THE CRAPPY BUISNESS MODEL OF TAKING ON CONTRACTS CHEAPER THAN EVERY OTHER DELIVERY COMPANY THEN STRUGGLING TO DELIVER. LITERALLY!! GIVING INDIVIDUAL DRIVERS HUNDREDS OF PARCELS AND PAYING THEM BY THE PARCEL INSTEAD OF A LIVING WAGE. ITS THEN IN THIER BEST INTERESTS TO GET THEM ALL OUT SO THEY GET MORE MONEY. AND WITH VERY LITTLE IN THE WAY OF DECENT MANAGEMENT THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH PRETENDING TO DELIVERY ITEM'S AND DUMPING THEM OVER WALLS OR WORSE KEEPING THEM. THE ENTIRE ORGANISATION IS BROKEN FROM TOP TO BOTTOM.
andy_2809
·1 month agoWhere do I even start. My parcel went missing somewhere in their network — not delayed, not "running late," just gone. I chased this up multiple times over email and every single reply felt like it was copy-pasted from a template. Vague, generic, and never actually addressing what I'd asked. It's like talking to a wall that occasionally sends you an email back.
So a replacement gets sent out. Surely lightning doesn't strike twice, right? Wrong. The second parcel disappeared as well. Same courier network, same result. At that point you start to wonder if it's actually possible for a parcel to survive a journey with this company.
And the "customer service" (I use that term extremely loosely) is a joke. Every time I chased for an update, I got the exact same scripted response I'd already received before, word for word, like they weren't even reading what I'd written. No accountability, no real answers, no resolution. Just endless copy-paste emails designed to make you go away rather than actually help you.
The really infuriating part is how inconsistent they are. Sometimes deliveries turn up on time, sometimes the delivery window is a complete fiction. Sometimes they'll actually follow your delivery instructions, other times they'll ignore them completely and do whatever they want. There's no consistency whatsoever — it's a total lottery every single time a parcel is in their hands.
At this point I wouldn't trust Evri to deliver an empty box, let alone anything that actually matters to me. Avoid if you have any other choice at all.

Evri really do not deserve to be in business, it's as simple as that. I have had numerous problems with this company over the years. I've had parcels go missing and never found, I have my own opinion on what's happened there! They also have been damaged, delayed by weeks and delivered to the wrong address. I have lost count the amount of different couriers there has been for my area. They never seem to last more than a week or two. You can never make contact with a real person, when you have a problem, it's all of this Chatbot nonsense, it's no way to run a delivery company. One of their main problems is that they hire unreliable people to deliver. I try my very best to avoid buying from sellers who use this company, but every now and again the odd one gets through. It's high time Ebay took this problem seriously, because they are going to lose many long standing customers, with me being one of them. Wake up Ebay!!

The AI system is inept of providing a half decent service. I entered my tracking number and postcode several times and it came back as nothing was allocated to my address. BIZARRE, I was on EVRI website and they provided the tracking number and showed my address with postcode.

My package came from the states with NO issues whatsoever. The delivery went great via DHL international, cleared customs quickly at Heathrow and then Evri took over! Oh dear Oh dear what a farce. ·2 months agoI haven't had a parcel delivered by Evri to my actual front (except once - regular courier must have been on holiday) door in the past year. I actively try and avoid buying where they will be delivering. Which is not always easy to work out. I have reported items as not received so many times that eBay now won't give me a refund if I report items as not delivered. That's me, been on here years, with 100% good feedback.
Evri is allowed by eBay to say that they have delivered a parcel to the 'geographical location'. Which, for where I live would be the postcode for our building only, but that includes a building at the front with 8 flats, a building at the back with 8 flats, plus 2 bungalows. Anywhere they dump it is considered 'delivered'. I am housebound. I live on the 2nd floor. The driver mostly has to push my buzzer to get in the building. So - if I open the door - he obviously knows I'm home. Every other delivery service brings my items upstairs. The supermarkets deliver 3-4 trays every week. But the Evri driver can't deliver a little envelope because he'd have to walk up the stairs... I hope, when he gets old, he's got someone to get his parcels for him...

·2 months agoWe are waiting for 4 parcels from 4 different sellers.
First one was supposed to have been delivered a week ago. Had an email saying we missed you and will be delivered next working day. When it had not arrived Tuesday I phoned them and got a message asking me to get a refund or replacement from seller. I assumed it has been lost/stolen/damaged. I contacted seller and they would not help and said contact ebay. I opened a case for it not arriving. The deadline passed. Then ebay said Evri were still going to deliver it and give it until 3rd August. I did not see how this was possible. So via Instagram I messaged Evri and asked where is my parcel. I had numerous messages asking for my whatsapp number. I said I did not use it and gave them my phone number. After ages of messing about I got a call. I assume it was from Nigeria as it was an African accent. He said he was calling from an internet phone and would not lie to me. My parcel was lost days ago. So I thanked him and said I would contact ebay. He did not want me to end the call. Asking if I wanted compensation but only through him. It felt very dodgy and I hung up. Then my phone rang again with another man with a west indian accent. I said I did not need any help as my parcel is lost. I hung up and my phone kept ringing from the 2 numbers for over half an hour. At the same time I was getting lots of messages on instagram from new accounts asking me to follow them. This went on until early hours. Including a user referring to me as 'mum'. Today the messages are still there but the usernames are gone. Now today ebay have stated that the item is being delivered today. Obvious it did not as it is supposed to be lost. But anything to prolong me getting a refund. I have told ebay. Don't think they care. I have never know anything like it. I was unsettling and bizarre.
Now the 3 parcels that were supposed to be delivered today have the same email messages as the one I should of got last weekend. I fear I will not get them. Not sure what is going on but Evri are beyond a dodgy company. If you are a women I advise no phone contact with whoever they use.

·4 months agoRE the title of this thread about Evri being cheap..... I'm finding that that in many cases they're actually not. Quite often when putting in for quotes, on certain size parcels, I'm finding cheaper from DPD Fedex and others, with Yodel being the king of the cheapo's.
I've used pretty much all of the different couriers over the years and had problems (although few) with all of them. The biggest issue for me is the nightmare of customer service when something does go wrong. After a recent battle with the Evri CS robots that was going round in circles, I emailed the CEO and got a reply straight back and the problem was sorted.

·4 months agoas you say "its the people they use to deliver"
most are self employed and that is not just limited to evri.
why is this? perhaps because companies do not want the liabilty of holiday, sick or maternity pay, just like zero hour contracts.
The rot started many years ago and a certain government. There is a reason why one is called a "nasty party"
I wonder how many will moan when drones and robots take jobs away, I wonder where the taxes will come from then to pay for defence and services?
"The mistake by many sellers is they dont understand that they have a reposnability to ensure the item gets to the buyer" they dont understand!

On going round to look I found 6 packages for 5 different addresses all dumped in the porch. One belonged to the address I was at. Mine was there and I also took two others and delivered them to the correct addresses in my road. What a shambles.
Re the undelivered damaged item I should get a refund via the seller/E-bay in due course.

Evri have done everything from delivering to the wrong address to not delivering at all to throwing the package on the ground outside the building to reporting the order as ‘lost’. ·4 months agoIf more people messaged sellers and said they're not going to buy their products if they are going to be delivered by Evri then they'd soon get the message and change.
Sadly this doesn't seem to be happening on mass, but the buyers must also take some of the blame for this as they're willingly accepting Evri as the courier knowing well what is likely to happen with their delivery/Parcel.
As a business seller we only use Royal Mail first class tracked and ParcelForce24hour services, more costly admittedly but neither has lost a parcel or delivered a damaged parcel in the past five or so years we've been selling (10,000+ sales approximately)
Evri are cheap, it's why sellers use them and why buyers buy products from companies that are selling cheap. If you buy using Evri you have a accept there's a very good chance they'll either lose it, damage it, deliver it late or to the wrong address, there's little point moaning on here when it happens, pretty much everyone by now knows what they're like.
Some areas have no problems, possibly down to the the individual drivers, but reading the many posts/threads on here there are obvious problems.

·4 months agocourier is Evri. I have explained the issues I have had and ask if they
would consider using Royal Mail.
Eight times out of ten I have received a refusal, particularly if it is a
business seller as they are the ones I have found stubbornly refuse any
alternative. Now I don’t bother because I can do without the hassle.
This year I have adopted a different tack.
If I am interested in an item on eBay, I first check who the carrier will
be (if it is displayed of course).
If it is Evri I ignore the listing, if it just states Standard Tracked
Delivery without the Express Tracked delivery option, invariably it will be
Evri.
If the listing states Standard Tracked Delivery I check whether the Express
Tracked Delivery is offered, if it is, I select this and add a note to the
seller as follows:
I have selected Express Tracked Delivery; please send by Royal Mail 24/48hr
Tracked. If for any reason you are unable to send by Royal Mail, please
let me know. Thank you very much indeed. Best wishes, etc.
This approach negates the necessity of exasperating time consuming emails
and consequent refusals and establishes my requirements.
I have had 100% success in adopting this method.
Whilst Express Delivery is slightly more expensive than Standard, most
items are Royal Mail 24 so the items arrive speedily; so all is well in my
eBay universe now; sans Evri.

In the past month I have had 2 parcels lost and 2 parcels they have damaged and repackaged with items missing from inside. I am starting to wonder what these delivery services do with the items. Do the staff that work there deliberately wreck the parcels to take the goods themselves?

·6 months agoI think with virtually every courier now it's simply luck of the draw. If I post something on eBay I always use Royal Mail because I know from experience that if the buyer lives in the middle of nowhere there's a very good chance it won't arrive at all if sent using Evri.
However, when items are posted to me in LU3 postcode, I'd rather it was Evri because Royal Mail deliveries have become alarmingly erratic, with crucial correspondence delayed for over a week and then arriving in a flood all at once, whereas we have a good Evri driver whom everybody likes and parcels arrive when they should with her.

·9 months agoJust adding to the pile of complaints, hopefully Ebay listen someday.
Been waiting for a package from a seller using Ebay SimpleBuy. Put my work address which is at a massive building and open 24 hours in London. We receive packages every day for hundreds of staff.
Receive a message saying delivery has been voided and is being returned to seller. Eventually got through to a human customer service agent, had no excuse.
Seems like they can decide not to deliver now.

·9 months agoto gruffejones: I hate posting to work addresses. Half the time people don't warn their post-in dept to expect it and pass it on. Post depts open them, ignoring the persons name, and sometimes even throw awy the delivery note, then leave it to one side and an hour later have no idea who it is for. I always use ebay delivery for these type of sales, as if there is a problem it becomes ebays problem.

·9 months agoSomewhere in the UK there is a huge pile of undelivered parcels, higher than Mount Everest, and they all have Evri labels on them.

·9 months agolost or damaged all covered under simple delivery.
personally, evri, one lost, one damaged all monies refunded
selling privately was the foundation of this platform.
Businesses, can choose. Businesses have insurance and the ability to write off losses against tax. They can also choose other platforms such as A..... with dedicated drivers?

·9 months agoIt’s not always that simple when the items buyers are purchasing are second hand, rare, limited numbers, discontinued or collectors items etc…
These types of items cannot be easily purchased again or at a price they are comfortable with. Hence why buyers are so emotionally charged by this atrocity of a company. It’s purely unacceptable.
cheekychippy210
·9 months agothe op is not showing any sales. Many on here use ghost accounts to comment. Businesses have a greater choice of courier of which I dare say offer such services for rare collectables. Do businesses offer the buyer a choice of courier or just get what suits their budget? If item lost the buyer gets all their money back. personally I would not get emotional over an item I have not owned, dissapointed it was lost yes.

·6 months agoYou never collected something, maybe. I am saying this with a smile and no attack intention, because there is not tone in writings.

·9 months agoI have lost a similar amount. Now prior to purchasing i will contact the seller to see which courier they are using. I also check to see if it is click and collect and the price of postage. If it is Evri i don't purchase. Even as a seller i have removed them from the courier list. Therefore i use Royal mail or Yodel because you can track the deliver.

·9 months agoI think I am now up to 7 missing parcels now. Love using eBay but will stop if you continue to us Evri. An absolute shambles.

·9 months agoYes, Evri are a joke company. I use Royal Mail, sending an average of one parcel per day, and don't think I had one failed delivery last year. However about half of the parcels I receive from eBay come via Evri and so many are delayed or go missing it is a joke. Most of my other parcels come via Royal Mail and I can't think of one failed delivery last year. I cringe when I see a parcel is coming (or probably not) from son of Hermes. I am sure the small amount sellers save by using Evri can't be worth the headache, although this may not be the case now as eBay have chosen to take the responsibility for failed deliveries through their annoying Simple Delivery system.

·9 months agoPerhaps Evri could change their name to deflect from their terrible reputation. How about changing it back to Hermes.

·9 months agoWell here is a new one for me - Buyer brought item December 21st - dispatched 22nd - posted to buyer 22nd - Buyer messaged me today - not received, so contacted Evri - what's happened to the parcel?
Short sharp sweet answer from Evri:
As you used simple delivery - just refund the buyer or send a duplicate item whilst we investigate.
What a crock of s.... - that is no way to encourage users of Evri postal service or Ebay to keep using Evri postal service, if they simply just say refund the buyer as it was simple delivery.
What are Ebays thoughts on this ??
Would be interesting to hear.

·9 months agoThat's actually what they always say, even when they stole my item, which I bought from a private seller and was one in a kind, still today I couldn't find it in that condition, they told me to just have the seller send me another one... They are so used to deal with shops, that think everybody has a stock, and no regard for second hand unique items or conditions. And their nonchalance is a red flag, because they are used to this and doing like this daily, who would ever entrust them with their items.

·9 months agoI have experienced as you have stated and therefore my modus operandi is that I refuse to buy from sellers who insist on using Evri (Hermes).
claire_leonhart
·9 months agoYeah, I lost a very good deal few months ago for this reason, but when you think it would have been arrived crushed and broken, or again, stolen, I don't get sad anymore, and it is just the peace of mind not to have to let the seller chase them and wait for ages, until you don't sue them. Once was enough for me.

·9 months agoThe only real solution to the problem is to message every potential seller and ask them which courier they use, unfortunately there are a growing number of sellers running a bait and switch postal scam in which they claim to use Royal Mail but actually dispatch with Evri instead of a proper courier.
It seems clear that eBay don't care, because they have recently changed their postal options so that buyers can't even see the courier details anymore.
eBay began as an auction house, but now it has become a lottery. Every transaction carries a risk of Evri, it's up to the buyer to decide whether that's a risk they wish to take and, indeed, whether they wish to support sellers who clearly think so little of their customers that they would inflict Evri on them.
