Another Evri fail!
Summary: retroman303 reported a delivery issue with a parcel from an eBay seller using Evri. The 'proof of delivery' mistakenly indicated the parcel was delivered to their neighbor's address, not their own. Initially concerned about the implications for claiming refunds, retroman303 later realized one package was indeed theirs. Despite resolving the issue, the author expressed frustration at Evri's misdelivery. jonatjonatjonat suggested pursuing a dispute with the payment provider, while c_of_e84 inquired further about package delivery and discussed a news story involving Evri.
Within the last hour I received an email from Evri stating that my parcel from an eBay seller has been delivered, yet nothing was put through my letterbox nor left outside my door.
The 'proof of delivery' photo showed three items left outside a neighbour's door (I live in a block of flats). I nipped down to check the items, and they are all addressed to (and thus correctly delivered to) my neighbour. Aside from that, the size and shape of the three packages do not match what I am expecting (a parcel with three CDs in).
I strongly suspect that the Evri driver correctly delivered my neighbour's items but incorrectly marked my package as delivered, triggering the delivery confirmation email I received. I can think of no other explanation as to why I would receive the email, as apart from living in the same block, I have no connection or shared contact details with the neighbour to whom the three items were delivered.
I have raised an enquiry with Evri, although past experience gives me little hope that they will deal with the issue efficiently. I have also asked the seller (who has the delivery contract with Evri) to investigate.
My concern is that, as the tracking number associated with my parcel now (wrongly) has a status of 'Delivered', I will not be able to claim an INR refund if the package does not turn up. On the other hand, the photo clearly shows three packages - not one - left outside a neighbour's door, not mine. And none of the packages look like they contain three CDs.
For now all I can do is wait for Evri and/or the seller to respond, and hope that the Evri driver realizes their error and returns to deliver my package. While I do, I'd like to ask if anyone has had a similar situation, or can offer some advice.
Thanks, and have a good day!

·1 month agoDid your parcel fit through the letter box and the other 3 didnt?
Just seen on the news evri are suing the BBC for the panorama they made about them.

OP1 month agoI presume you mean "the other 2 didn't". There were three packages in total left outside my neighbour's flat - two for them (correctly delivered), and one for me (misdelivered). No package was put through their letterbox. As previously explained, I didn't check the third package's address label properly due to worrying about the neighbour coming out and finding me examining their post (and the fact that the packaging of my item was similar to the packaging of their two items) - if I had checked it properly, I'd have seen my address.
The driver either didn't check the address labels properly, and assumed that my item went along with the other two packages, or did check, but couldn't be bothered to climb up a few steps to my flat. Neither is a good reason for the misdelivery, and I gave one star (can't choose zero stars) when invited by Evri to rate the delivery - plus a brief explanation of why.
I'd like to have seen that Panorama programme - is it available on catch-up, or has it been taken down now that it is the subject of a legal case?

·1 month agoI just checked, yes it is on iplayer but now carries the statement below.
Evri: Where’s My Parcel?
01/06/2026: This broadcast is the subject of a libel claim by Evri Limited, who says it makes defamatory allegations about it. Panorama investigates the pressures of working in an Evri delivery unit.

·1 month agoI have been in the mail order business for 25 years, (this is my private ebay account), and all delivery systems have some very good highs, I have had cases of parcels sent by DHL collected from here in rural Norfolk at mid day and being delivered to Cornwall at 10pm the same day along with various nightmare shipments, the quality of services ebbs and flows, our local evri depot and delivery lady are great, as a business I could use evri to collect and integrate through parcel2go who then forward them through smaller international systems but there is know way on earth I would ever use them because what I would be getting on the other end is a service similar to what you had in a foreign country with no support at all.

OP1 month agoSOLVED!
One of the three packages left outside my neighbour's flat was for me. I obviously didn't check the address label on the smallest of the three packages properly, probably because I felt awkward checking them knowing that my neighbour could come to the door at any moment, also because the packaging was consistent with the two that did have my neighbour's address on.
I'm still angry at Evri though. That package should have been left outside my door. I've subsequently wasted time messaging Evri and the seller as well as posting here. And my neighbour, assuming that the package was for them (or so they say) has opened the package. I say "or so they say" because another package of mine was recently misdelivered to them (which they also opened), so I'd like to think that, with this in mind, they would check before opening.
Oh well, at least I have my CDs - but my already low opinion of Evri has sunk even further...

That's the outcome that tends to be seen - ebay will believe that has been delivered.
You may get further with a dispute with your payment provider...

OP1 month ago · EditedThanks for the reply.
Your post and my previous one were submitted within the same minute, so you must have (understandably) missed my previous one ("SOLVED!") explaining that one of those three packages was actually addressed to me.
Thank goodness I have honest neighbours, even if I am a little miffed that they opened it without checking the address first (given that the same thing happened in recent times).
