On ebay for selling cost when I add the details of my debit card I have the following message:
We couldn't verify this card. Please select a different payment method.
I contacted my bank and there is no issue, block on that debit card.
It's the same debit card I set up as preferred method to but on ebay and in this case it does not give me any error.
When I enter the same card details for the selling cost option, I have the message above.
I tried to use an alternative payment method as well: my bank account, but I have the following message:
Ineligible for selling costs.
This bank account is not a saving account, so it has to be accepted and it does not have any issue.
I called many times ebay, but they say on their system have the message
debit card preauthorisation declined.
I tried to repeat the procedure of adding the debit cart to the selling costs, but with no success.
Ebay owe me £150 and I am waiting to get extra £12 from a buyer, but ebay said to me this money cannot be given to me until I set up the payment method for the selling cost.
Please consider that I do not have to pay ebay for any selling cost because I use the standard selling options and ebay confirmed to me I do not have to pay any fee to them and I do not have any pending fee as well.
Ebay said to me I have to set up a payment method for the selling cost anyway, because this is a standard procedure ebay puts in place to automatically take selling costs.
Without setting up a payment method for the selling cost, I won't get paid from ebay.
Please advise what to do.

·1 week agoHave the same issue, stuck in limbo now for weeks, I cannot even make a refund; my banks say everything is fine; I made many lengthy calls to eBay and none of them people I spoke to could solve it.

·2 weeks agoI get "Ineligible for selling costs" on my debit card and bank account I have used for years. Only this last few weeks it has become an issue I cannot change. I can buy and sell without problems, yet. 25/08/2026.

·2 weeks agoStill the same for me-i have now had to order a new debit card from my bank to try next week. Definitely an Ebay glitch-as last week when i made an offer for something-a pop up window opened asking to add a payment option for 'Offers'-this has never happened before. Anyway i added my 'failed card' details for the payment option and it accepted it-so not a card problem as we are being told. Plenty of other users having this problem now also.

I reported the issue to https://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/ last month and they are investigating.

·1 month agoJust started having this problem myself today. I made a payment for selling fees last week with the debit card on file. Today it says my payments are on hold due to failure to pay selling fees. I have tried re-adding my valid debit card details (LLOYDS) no problems using the card elsewhere. I tried the option of using my bank account for selling fees but it still won't accept it-even though it is the same account linked to my profile. I cannot pay the fees any other way-no option to-only to add a new card-which i do not have. Seems to be a huge glitch in the system-i'm trying to pay my fees but Ebay won't accept them & my payouts are now on hold-very unfair.
