Seller told me to get cancel order
Recently bought a buy it now of eBay which had free postage. The next day I had an eBay message from the seller saying the postage was too expensive and to get my money back from eBay. The only options I could see would make it look like I’m cancelling the order and not the the seller as there was no tick box available for ( seller asked me to cancel ). Surely it’s up to the seller to cancel . Your thoughts please.

Hi @bottlebri , thanks for your post.
When this happens, the seller shouldn't really do that, at that point eBay expects for the seller to honour the transaction.
If the seller doesn't sell the item, you can open an item not received case and you will get your refund that way, just bare in mind that you will have to wait for the estimated delivery date to pass, and then it could take up 3 business days for the case to be actioned after it being filed, so in terms of getting your money back, while you will definitely get it, it might take a bit longer. Unless, the seller ends up honouring the transaction.
If you're not bother, you can just request the seller for the cancellation, and then once the seller accepts the request, that will trigger the refund straight away, and then you'd just need to wait for the refund to hit your bank account.
If you click here, you can see how to request the cancellation. And if you click here, you will be able to see how to file an item not received case in case you need it.
Thank you,
Marco

·3 weeks agoYour seller should cancel stating "out of stock" which will earn them a defect.
If it were me i would open a non receipt claim 1 day after latest estimated delivery date.Escalate to Ebay after 3 working days,Ebay will force a refund.Leave appropriate feedback after you are refunded.Seller will need to prove delivery to avoid a defect.
