I am posting this to raise awareness of a wider issue affecting UK sellers, not to resolve a single case. eBay routinely applies payout holds under the banner of a “routine review”, yet in practice these holds are implemented with no meaningful notice, no explanation, and no transparency. The only indication is often a generic in-app banner discovered after the fact. No email is sent, no reason is given, no information is requested, and no outcome is explained once the hold ends. eBay’s own Help pages list specific, defined reasons for holding payments, such as transaction-level delivery confirmation, disputes, new seller status, verification requirements, or sudden changes in selling activity. The guidance implies that holds are conditional and lifted once the relevant issue is resolved.
