Refund for Faulty Item Bought with eBay Funds
Summary: mumsandra experienced an issue with a faulty item purchased using eBay funds and seeks advice on obtaining a refund. sml192 explains that eBay's Money Back Guarantee applies, but if the purchase exceeds the 30-day timeframe, options are limited. Without a payment provider involved, there's no chargeback protection, and if a return request isn't successful, legal action might be necessary.
I've recently faced an issue where I used my eBay funds to purchase an item, only to find it faulty upon arrival. What steps should I take to ensure eBay refunds my money? Has anyone else encountered this situation, and what was your experience with the resolution process? Additionally, what role does eBay's Money Back Guarantee play here, especially if it's been over 30 days since the purchase? I'm eager to hear from those who've navigated similar challenges and any tips on how best to proceed.

·1 week agoYou say that it was "faulty upon arrival" but "it's been over 30 days since the purchase"... has it been more than 30 days since it arrived?

·1 week agoFor items purchased using your eBay balance, eBay's Money Back Guarantee operates in exactly the same way as normal. If you are outside of the 30 day timeframe provided then there won't be anything that you can do through eBay and, unfortunately, as a payment provider wasn't involved you don't have the additional protection of a Chargeback/payment dispute.
You can still open a return request but if the seller isn't cooperative then your only recourse would be legal action against the seller through the courts.
