eBay won't pay me without agreeing to Trustly's terms and conditions

I've had my eBay account for almost 25 years, mostly as a buyer but occasionally as a seller. In the past when I've sold stuff I've withdrawn the money using PayPal without any issue.
Recently, however, I sold something and discovered that eBay no longer lets you withdraw using PayPal or debit card; you have to add a bank account instead.
The problem is adding a bank account requires you to go through a third-party US-based company called Trustly. This requires you to agree to Trustly's terms and conditions. I do not agree with their terms, and I do not agree with the idea that I am required to disclose my personal information to an external company to be paid by eBay.
I spent an hour in an extremely painful live chat with eBay's customer service. The advisors (all three of them, including a supervisor) were unable to understand my question. I am told it's being escalated into a complaint.
So what now? eBay has my money but there is no clear mechanism by which I can withdraw it without agreeing to a set of third-party T&Cs. This does not feel like a fair position for eBay to put sellers in.

Yes, we no longer work PayPal as both companies have separated. So, since both companies parted ways, we had to introduced a new method to pay out sellers, the system is called Managed Payments, and it basically means that you need to add your bank account in order to get paid, we can only send the funds into your bank account, which means we can't send your funds to your debit card or PayPal.
I understand this was a big change, and that you might not agree to certain T&C's, which is absolutely ok, but I'm afraid that's the only option that we have in order to send your funds.
I know entering banking details can be concerning, so you are ok to feel like this. However, I can assure you this is completely safe and you have nothing to worry about. Also, to confirm, Trustly is not from the US, but from Sweden, and a big number of platforms uses them, so we all probably have used it with no problem at some stage.
If you don't want to sign in directly with your bank, you can just enter your details manually and then you can start using your account to get paid.
Please note that because you are adding your bank account, there is no option for bank statements or micro deposits, that's only for verification purposes.
Once you've added a bank account, then we will ask you at some stage to verify it to make sure we are sending the funds to the correct account, and to be in compliance with local laws and regulations, and that's when you will be able to verify by signing in, requesting the micro deposits, or upload a bank statement.

You mention I can enter my details manually. However, even when I choose that option it still requires that the information is processed through Trustly, and still requires me to agree to Trustly's terms and conditions.
Is there no manual alternative with eBay directly, which doesn't involve me using Trustly or another third party?
The situation appears to be that eBay is holding my funds, and the only withdrawal mechanism requires me to contract with a third party.

Yes, that's correct, regardless of the method you choose to enter your bank details, you'd need to agree to Trustly's T&C's. This is what I was referring to above when I said that there is no way around it, I'm afraid.
For more context and help you understand better, in order to process payments, you'd need a license/legal authorization, and since we are not a payments institution, we can't do that on your behalf.
That's when Trustly or companies like them step in, they do have the license/legal authorization and platform to keep all this processes confidential and secure/safe, they basically process the payments for us to give you a better idea, and since they are involved, you'd need to accept the T&C's in order to continue. Again, I understand this is not ideal for you, and I do understand why you'd rather not do it, and that's ok, but I can assure it is completely safe and it will help get your funds really quick.

·1 month agoThe terms and conditions for Trustly can seem rather daunting but it is perfectly safe. All you are doing is providing a one time snapshot of your bank account which may contain any of the information normally found on a bank statement. You aren't sharing your login details with Trustly and they will have no further access to your account.
Trustly is a Swedish company, not US, and they are regulated in the UK by the FCA.
If you really don't want to use the Trustly method then, as others have said, you should still be able to verify your account by using micro deposits or by uploading your bank statement.

OP1 month agoLooks like they have nuked that option as well. The only option given to me is to connect via Trustly; even if I choose "Enter bank account details manually", it still requires me to connect via Trustly and agree to their T&Cs.
