WRONGLY CHARGED VAT ON DISABILITY AID TO THE SUM OF £120 BY EBAY
I AM DISABLED AND BOUGHT A MOBILITY SCOOTER ON HERE ON EBAY, (YOU DO NOT PAY VAT ON MOBILITY AIDS) YET THIS WAS WRONGLY ATTACHED TO MY BILL.
HOWEVER, DESPITE WRITING TO EBAY SEVERAL TIMES, PLUS SPEAKING TO A NUMBER OF PEOPLE AT CUSTOMER SERVICES. ALSO SENDING IN PROOF OF MY DISABILITY i.e. BLUE BADGE AFTER WHICH THEY ALL ASSURED ME THAT I WAS CORRECT AND EBAY WOULD REFUND IN FULL THE AMOUNT THEY HAVE TAKEN, EBAY HAS STILL NOT REFUND BACK THE £120 THEY HAVE WRONGLY TAKEN.
I AM LOOKING AT THE OMBUDSMAN AND CITIZENS ADVICE OR SOLICITOR. HOPEFULLY SOMEBODY HAS HAD TO DEAL WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND THEREFORE CAN GIVE ME THE CORRECT ADVICE ON HERE

Mentor6 months agoIt will be the seller that charged you the VAT, not ebay, so it is the seller you need to be contacting.
It's very difficult for a seller using ebay to comply with the rules for disability aids so many don't. You also need to provide them with the relevant information in advance of the purchase.
It's not just that the items are zero rated per se, they are usually only zero rated subject to the status of the buyer. It's possible that the seller might do a partial refund of the VAT but they don't have to, legally.
