Wrong return reason used to avoid postage by buyer

I had a buyer message me to say they had ordered the "wrong item by mistake" and they would be returning it. This way before they had received it. The next day they opened a return request and put the reason down as "wrong item sent" and returned it through the ebay returns. They obviously done it as ebay automatically approves it and supplies them with a prepaid label which i am assuming i will have to pay for (i don't offer free returns only the normal 30 day returns). I have messaged the buyer why he did this as the item is correct as per the picture he has taken and put on the return. He then replied to say how does he change it ? I can't do it my end and can't see his screen. The item is due back to me on Monday but will ebay amend the return for me so that i don't get charged for the return or get a defect put on my account ?

Mentor4 months agoOnce returned you have to act within 3 days.
Therefore once received back you will have to put the facts before ebay to show that he used the wrong reason for return.
Whatever ebay decide I doubt it will get the cost of postage back and a refund will have to be made, but if buyer is willing there is nothing to prevent him refunding postage, but will have to be made by Paypal or bank transfer, as there is no system available using ebay.
