Why is my Scottish buyer being charged VAT

Question

Does anyone know why my buyer is being charged VAT for a £3.50 purchase? He is in Scotland and i am in London, but both in the UK so the EU VAT rules should not apply. I have never seen this before on any of my sales. Thanks

Should be simple enough to tell what the VAT is on, what is the value of item sold and what would be 20% of the cost.An item selling at £17.50 if subject to VAT would be £3,50
