Why I can't place my bid (from EU) for an item in Germany
Summary: goc355 is having trouble placing a bid on an item located in Germany because eBay requires the item to be collected in person and doesn't allow for international bids without specified EU shipping. goc355 is frustrated as they have the means to arrange transport if they win the auction, but the platform restricts bids to within Germany. **peaseblossom** explains that this policy exists because sellers may not want to package items for couriers and prefer in-person collection.
Hi all. I want to place my bid (from Croatia, EU) for an item in Germany (EU). But ebay will not allow me to do that because the item is not going to be sent anywhere but collected at the seller's address. I would arrange the transport for the item if I win it, with collection at the seller's address but I am unable to place my bid. What can I do, this is not the first time this is happening and it is very frustrating. If seller didn't specify shipping within EU, no one can bid for the item apart from those in Germany. This is nonsense as we have daily connections to Germany by buses and private vans and everything could be resolved quickly and without any problems, but ebay simply doesn't allow us to place our bids.

Mentor1 month agoCollection items is for collection by buyer only. Couriers require the item to be packaged which sellers want to avoid so ask for buyer to collect.

OP1 month agoThank you, but I am not talking about being collected by couriers, but private persons, my friends who are working in Germany for example.
