Why are sellers allowed to pretend they are UK when they are actually in China?
I ask as when buying from China you have zero rights compared to buying from a real UK seller. I tried to report one seller but there is no process on ebay

Mentor3 months agoAre you sure that these sellers are actually "pretending" to be in the UK? Many sellers in China have a distribution base in the UK, which entitles them to state when items are located in the UK.
If you buy an item that is claimed to be UK stock but it's actually sent from China, this is reportable to eBay as location misrepresentation.
I had the link to this policy saved - but when eBay reorganised this board they removed all mentor's saved notes and links without any warning. You can try searching for it yourself in "Help & Contact" at the top or bottom of every page. When I looked, eBay's dire AI couldn't find the link to report this, even though they have a specific policy on location representation.

OP3 months agoYes they are pretending. Its not just the item location that's UK. They clearly state "UK Seller" when all the contact info is Chinese. I called ebay and reported it. Weeks later they are still there claiming to be UK, ebay doesnt care.
I bought an item from one 3 months ago which broke. I tried to claim on their "5 year warranty" but was ignored. I wanted to take them to the small claims court but can't as all their business contact details are in China.

Mentor3 months agoI think it's more a case of pretending the items are in the UK. You can weed out chinese sellers by looking at the feedback page for the country of registration.
