WHO EXAMINES REPORTED COUNTERFEIT SELLERS AND ARE THOSE RESPONSIBLE BLIND ? WHY DOESN'T EBAY PROTECT BUYERS WHO PAY FOR IT ? DECISIONS SEEM TO BE COMPLETELY SENSELESS AND ARBITRARY
Summary: countesszapak expressed frustration with eBay's customer service during a phone call, highlighting concerns about the handling of counterfeit reports and questioning the effectiveness of eBay's fraud detection. countesszapak mentioned having positive feedback over many years on the platform but felt dissatisfied with how a counterfeit claim was handled, noting the item's glaring differences. papso22 clarified that buyer protection is separate from the money-back guarantee, while *vyolla* expressed surprise that eBay's return process didn't resolve the issue, questioning why countesszapak experienced a problem if the correct steps were taken. eBay's competition from other platforms like Vinted was also briefly mentioned by countesszapak.
I have just got off the phone from ebay customer service ,the young man literally just said to me what did I expect if he price I paid was less than than the retail value Iwhich as far as I am aware is NOT part of ebay's policy and I pointed out that I have bought all sorts of bargains on ebafor a fraction of their retail value .It really made me glad that Vinted are proving to be a strong competitor .I have heard countless stories of sellers being flagged for genuine articles with the original batch numbers and receipt and ebay flagging them as fakes . It makes me wonder if Ebays Ai fraud detector broken or if they are actually real people and if so are ebay's investigation team completely blind? As buyers we pay a protection fee that has helped make ebay very wealthy and it return it is meant to be a guarantee against buying fraudulent merchandise .I submitted a counterfeit alert about an absurdly OBVIOUS fake perfume , smelt vile , took photos showing the genuine item side by side ,the contrast being so glaring it is beyond absurd .. the perfume liquid was another colour ,the back of it was not branded , the glass was not clouded as it in the design as the genuine article ( it was counterfeit JPG perfume Classique ) the bottle and top had significant differences completely obvious to the naked eye and even to me who is legally blind literally ! I did not marker the differences because they are so obvious .Silly me. Ebay refused the evidence BTW .I have an 100% positive feedback stretching 20 years as a buyer and seller .The seller selling counterfeits is new and has 4 other bottles of counterfeit perfumes on his online shop .Do something and treat customers better .

Mentor1 month agoYou don't report a fake item received, you open item not as described case and return at sellers cost for a refund.
Ebay never see the item, but believe buyers.

Mentor1 month agoIt's nigh on impossible for a buyer to lose out on eBay.
If you opened an eBay return for the counterfeit perfume within 30 days of receiving it and selected the reason 'Doesn't match photo or description' then I don't understand why you lost out.
Do you know what happened?

It is the money back guarantee, used properly, that protects buyers from unscrupulous sellers.
