Where can I view messages sent to a seller during a missing item conversation?
I may be missing something obvious here. I've sent two messages now to a seller whose item is stuck in transit with Royal Mail. That's all in hand at the moment, and they're responsive, but I can't find a place to view the messages I've sent to the seller so far.
The seller's responses show up in Messages > Inbox, but the ones I've sent don't show up in Messages > Sent, nor any of the other headings.
Any ideas where I can find them?

OP8 months agoI see the pigeon as well, and I'm pretty sure we're in the same place now. If I resize the window horizontally, the left column disappears, leaving the two you're talking about. The extra leftmost column can be accessed via the icon with a right-pointing arrow in it next to the word "Messages"
Regular conversations do show up like phone text conversations with the blue bubbles for what I've said and white for the other person. Those conversations also show up in Sent Items (from that leftmost column) because of the back-and-forth.
It's lucky I happen to have messaged someone else on the platform recently (about something else entirely) or I wouldn't be able to confirm this.
Messages back and forth when using the resolution system for missing items don't show up the same way. All that is visible is what the seller has responded that one time and a button in their message for me to respond back.
What I've said in my messages to the seller isn't available to me at all. I mean, it's not hugely important and the world won't end, but I'd like to be able to refer back to it.

Mentor8 months ago@polar_rufus for messages you've sent within a request/case, you need to go to your purcchase history here: Purchases | Myebay | eBay and scroll down to the item concerned. Next to it, you'll have all your options for that purchase and one of them will be to view the details of the case (you may need to click on More Actions to see that option).
Click on that and it'll take you to the case you opened where you'll see History with a dropdown. Expand the dropdown and you can see the full message exchange.

OP8 months agoAh-ha. So that's where it was hiding. Thank you!
And yes, I'm not letting the seller off the hook. I've checked Royal Mail's guidelines - seller has sent alleged proof that it got to one of RM's depots - and after 10 working days the item would be considered lost, so I'll be claiming my money back at that point if the item doesn't get to me, and they'd have a solid claim against Royal Mail.

Mentor8 months agoI have no messages in resolution to check but to make sure you get a refund you have to start a "not received" case within 30 days of the estimated delivery date. Don't let the deadline pass even though the seller seems to be co-operating.

OP8 months agoI do not know what you mean by "on the right".
The messages interface has three columns. The column containing Inbox and so on, the column containing the messages I have received and the column for the message itself.
The messages I have _sent_ during the missing item conversation do not show up anywhere in those three columns, whether I select Inbox (left column) then click on the last message I received (middle column) or on Sent Items (left column).
Please provide steps for the desktop eBay interface, such as "Hover over my eBay in the top right..." etc. to get to what you're talking about if I am looking at the wrong thing.

Mentor8 months agoI can only tell you what I see on my messages which sounds very different to yours.
When I look at my messages the screen is divided into two. On the lefthand side there is the list of messages. The righthand side is blank except for a picture of a pigeon and a letterbox! Underneath the pigeon is says "Select a message to read".
Click on a message in the lefthand column (scroll down to get to a particular one) and I get all the messages to and from that person for that particular thread/day. The ones from me are in bright blue.
Try from here:

It might help to clear cookies first or use a different browser.

Mentor8 months agoIn your messages click on the last message you received and on the right you will get all the messages to and from that person. Scroll down to see them all, your messages are in blue.
