what to do about a buyer asking for money off
Summary: The discussion centered around the issue of handling a buyer's request for a discount. gibbonaltar initiated the conversation, expressing uncertainty about how to deal with the situation. *guinevere* responded, likely offering advice or sharing similar experiences, though specific content wasn't provided. The dialogue concluded without a clear resolution described in the discussion.
Listed an old phone, it had a cracked screen so was at a lower price - buyer tried haggling and I eventually lowered the price and put it on a BIN.
He then replaced the screen and battery so he took it apart - and now 2.5 weeks later is saying that he found a fault on the sound / microphone which 'must' have been there before and want money back
he has this listed on Ebay - double what he paid me - with a new screen and batter y - no faults are listed
suggestions?

Mentor2 months agoThe standard procedure if a buyer claims "not as described" is for them to open a return and for the seller to pay for a return label and give a full refund on return.
I take it he hasn't opened a case if he has it listed on ebay? If he doesn't open a return you do nothing. Everything on ebay must be done through official channels so no return case, no refund.
Don't forget, buyers only have 30 days from receipt of the item to use the ebay MBG so if he leaves it to late he'll be out of time anyway.

OP2 months agoThanks
At the end of the day he's taken it apart to fix it so could have caused that issue himself, I think he's just trying it on but not sure how Ebay say that - he didnt say anything till 2.5 weeks after 0 and after he'd taken it apart!
