What is going wrong with Ebay?

I have been dealing on Ebay for many years with no problems and 100% record. In the past month, I have had one item take 22 days to arrive; a car battery charger that left the seller but still hasn't got to me more than three weeks later; a tape deck sold but the buyer alleges 'not as described' and wants to return it at my expense, and a refund (damaging my reputation but won't say what's wrong with it); a buyer for a model railway layout, who cancelled the deal one hour after a successful bid ... so far potentially £720 down this month and its only the twenty second!
If Ebay backs the buyer (who I think wanted to use the tape player once for nothing and then return it) this will be me saying goodbye!

Mentor2 months agoEbay are hardly to blame for late arrival, they do not deliver !
The other problems occur all the time, they are the hazards of selling on ebay, and if in doubt ebay sides with the buyer. When signing up to ebay you do agree to accept ebay rules and decisions.

OP2 months ago2 Delivery problems have multiplied since Ebay took decisions about the carrier!
3 The 'rules' allow a buyer, who has outbid others to then withdraw from the purchase. How is that protecting the seller?

Mentor2 months agoBuyers don't have to prove evidence under the money back guarantee and they will get a refund and the item if a seller doesn't provide a return label.

In my case the buyer obviously bought an expensive tape deck so that he could use it to copy tapes and then reject it on the basis that it didn't match the description - which Ebay accepted without any proof or evidence. It then told the buyer he would get a full refund, need not return it and to take it to a charity shop.
How is that in the seller's interest? I had offered to go and collect the deck myself and then refund in full if the deck was undamaged - at which the buyer threatened to go to the police!!!!!
If those are Ebay's rules (which can't override UK law) then it is goodbye to Ebay from me!
