What has happened to eBay?
I have been selling on the site for many years now, mostly without problems, but now "simple delivery" has arrived and I am getting grief.
A listing that I have had for some time and successfully made sales with had a purchase last week.
It is a 9kg weight in a box that is 94 x 33 x 33cms, the same size and weight as I have sent out previously.
The new eBay system changed the price of postage to £2.82, you can't send a letter in this country for that, so unable to change the price, I went to the Post Office and tried to pay the balance.
This was not possible and I ended up paying for another postage label at great expense to my original price.
I have had further problems with this new system on other items.
I have just wasted 2 and a 1/2 hours on the phone with 3 different eBay call handlers, all telling me what they want to tell me, not listening, not helping and just wasting my time.
What has happened to the previously excellent eBay?

Mentor11 months agoThere is a simple solution.
Businesses (those that buy to sell), and who sell on a business account as required by ebay, do not use Simple Delivery.

OP11 months agoI have no option other than to sell on simple delivery.
The eBay people told me that this is an enforcement.

Mentor10 months agoPrivate sellers have to use simple delivery unless the items are in eBays exemptions
You are buying to resell and should be using a business account https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/selling-policies/business-seller-policy?id=4710
Business sellers do not have to use simple delivery, you can continue to use your existing delivery methods once you change your account type, you will pay listing and sellimg fees as all correctly registered businesses do
You change your account type here

Mentor11 months agoFirst of all you need to cancel the label, otherwise you will be charged for it.
You must be aware that the details on the listing form have changed, so relying on a relist will not allow for Simple Delivery postage to be selected, as you have to select an appropriate method of postage, which will then produce the correct label for any future sales.
I suggest having a look at your own ad. to see what it has been changed to, without weight and size it probably just quotes basic postage, and of course buyer is likely to pay too little.
