What are people opinions on items left on doorsteps?
This is more of a issue regarding couriers. But as buyers we don't get a say in couriers used.
Royal mail leaves item in designated safe place but no other courier does. They leave it on the path in my front garden. In full view of the road. I don't consider this delivered. What is the consensus?
I raise this because today an expensive delivery was left on front door step which I apparently signed for. I was not home and designated a safe place.

Mentor1 month agoeBay consider it delivered. Thats all you need to worry about. As a buyer you have a say in what you purchase, eg you can choose sellers that use Royal Mail etc.

OP1 month agoSo it's Ebays policy that left near the house is delivered?
I do try to use ones stating royal mail but can't always find them.

Mentor1 month agoIf tracking shows as delivered and there is usually a picture of the item by a door etc, then thats what ebay need, most other companies have similar or the same policy.
I suspect some if it comes from zero hour contracts and vans etc being overloaded with deliveries for the day. Many of the carriers pay 50p per parcel drop, there are only odd carriers that pay their staff a salary, UPS is one I know of and some of DPD too.

OP1 month agoI understand the issues with courier exploitation. I wondering Ebays position on it.
Fortunately the items lost are low value. I will limit purchases on ebay going forth.
