You:Suddenly my account has stopped showing my "recently viewed" items and, at the same time, items I have tagged for my watch list don't appear there. This despite being logged in and the system displaying a message to say the item HAS been added.

To see your recently viewed items, you must be signed in to your account. If you weren't signed in while browsing, those items won't appear in your recently viewed list.
You can find your recently viewed items by selecting Your Recently Viewed Items on the homepage or on the left side of the search results page.
