Warranty for new drill purchase.
Hi, in September I purchased a new WORX drill, the description included 3 year warranty. The chuck has now developed a fault but WORX say warranty invalid unless bought direct from them. What can I do to highlight this? Seller will not respond except to say item was delivered. eBay help/contact no help at all.

By asking this question you have helped to highlight this problem.
We regularly remind buyers that warranties on eBay are liable to be invalid or meaningless. There are several reasons for this. Few eBay sellers are authorised distributors, and items sold here may be bought through the trade as clearance stock, grey imports, seconds, cusomer returns or even - and all too often - counterfeit. Many sellers don't want to know about warranty claims or after-sales service - this is one of the most frequently asked questions here.
eBay's own money back guarantee only lasts for 30 days. After this they will not get involved, whatever the problem. Buyers can sometimes get help from their payment provider e.g. credit or debit card issuer, but again time limits will apply.
Otherwise, when the seller is a UK registered business seller buyers should have the usual statutory consumer rights. However, having rights counts for nothing if you can't enforce them, which is liable to be difficult or pointless against many unknown, distant eBay sellers. And of course if the seller is registered in China buyers are unlikely to have any enforceable consumre rights, even if the item was sold as UK stock.
In fairness to eBay, they do explain that after 30 days the transaction is entirely between the seller and the buyer. They even warn buyers in the user agreement that they don't guarantee the quality of items sold here, or that they will be truthfully described, safe or even legal. But we know from questions asked here that hardly anyone ever reads this.

OP6 months agodrill for a length of time - I tested briefly on receipt to confirm working
- I was outside of the time limit. All I want to do here is highlight (or
re highlight) that this buyer is giving false information. The fact that
eBay don't give a toss and excuse themselves by hiding explanations deep in
their policies is neither here nor there.
Thank you for your response.
I am now looking for a replacement chuck to fit myself. Wish me luck.
Actually, how do I put a buyer beware in feedback for this seller? All I
can find is positive reviews and nowhere to add my own review. Can you help
with guiding me to that please? Thank you.

Mentor6 months agoAny warranty offered by any seller anywhere is only ever going to be as good as your ability to enforce and, as you've discovered, you can't.
If you paid with a debit/credit card and bought the drill less than 120 days ago you could contact your card provider.
If you seller is a UK registered business seller you could contact Citizens Advice and see if they can advise how to proceed with a legal claim and/or report to Trading Standards.
